Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

Well he did just confirm in the next four months, which still gets you the end of September at the latest.

My bet would be on the date being announced before June 20th for a mid August release (the first week of August would be great - that first weekend particularly).

But do you think it would be a good idea to release another cricket game so close to AC13???

Edit: Unless Ross wants to crush AC13 down completely by starting his fast paced marketing campaign the same day AC13 releases so that all focus shifts towards his game and then release his game a month later :p!

----------

Frankly I'm more interested in the name than the release date!

They can call it Ali Baba Cricket for all I care as long as they reveal the release date is in a couple of months :p!! Both seem unlikely though ;)!

No, it's a terrible idea, but I certainly wouldn't leave them an open market, hence announcing the game before the release of Ashes so it's in the mind of anyone considering a purchase.

If it were me, I'd have released the game this week, so when people hear about 'that new cricket game', theirs is the one in store.

Couldnt agree more with you on this!!! I really believed that BigAnt would get their game out first, as it really is a HUGE advantage!!! People right now are geared up for a cricket game, there is a huge tournament coming up which is only second to a world cup, and Ashes is about to start almost immediately after that!!

If BigAnt's game is actually complete and has gone through all approval stages, I really feel they let go of an amazing opportunity to release their game and stamp their authority in the market!

Yeah that discounted price for the Ashes game is going help their sales a lot. Not a lot of gamers will want to have two cricket games.

Thats a good point!!! Since BigAnt will not look to offer much discounts, it would have been ideal to release their game first...i.e. when people are most likely to pay the 'right' price!!

I don't think Ross has changed his line on that. He thinks it will be delayed; 505 say it won't be and now all we can do is wait and see.

I think Ross is playing a bit of chicken with Trickstar to be honest. He's obviously got a source... But I also think his "my game is ready to go" brouhaha is a little more mind-games than reality. We would be seeing a lot more images and substance if that was the case. I don't think the CA beta-test we've been doing is just 'killing time' for him.

That being said, I don't think the Ashes game is quite as ready as we're being told either...

Bit of smoke and mirrors and bluff calling from both sides, in my opinion.

So my money says:

BigAnt Cricket On Shelves October 31st 2013 - I imagine a few folks get their hands on it a week or two before that for reviewing.

Following the interviews on Friday this is more apparent as the answers given are contradictory.

It was said game not finished but will make the 21st? Not on Consoles it won't, that ship sailed a couple of months ago.

Ross is it possible they had submitted something (unfinished) and their talk of DLC content is basically a big ol' day one patch (ala, Assassins Creed III) on release day?

How confident are you in your source on this?...

I don't think it really matters. As I said we also have word from a distributor that it's delayed but as 505 are saying it isn't the subject is hypothetical until June 21st.

The console platform holders are very reluctant to do it. You can get away with a zero day patch if the content is related to online as by definition the people who need online patches are online.

The answers were given on Friday - daily builds, game balancing, and the like - this means it has not been submitted to the platform holders, either that or the truth has not been told. I think the "want it on the stands as soon as possible" is the closest thing to the truth that was uttered. Anyway time will tell.

Just a thought. Its been advertised that Ashes will be released on the 21st. If they are not going to make it, you have a great time to release your title. :D

Everyone waiting for that game to come out will go to a shop and ask for the cricket game. :cheers

So in laymans terms if there's an online component, then technically that's how they're getting around it...

I was wondering how Ubisoft got away with their zero day mega-patch... because they really did send a broken game to market, day one had a maaaaahooosive patch and still the game had floating muskets everywhere, whole levels were broken... Worst experience ever with a game... Pretty average to boot...
