A question regarding lowering skills, is it worth doing this on console(obviously no patches yet) or wait for patches to arrive before implementing them? Also what's the difference between playing on pro with get best skills or playing on veteran/legend with lower skills?

i'd do it. i am pretty sure @cooks1st100 and @wealey88 are on console?

i'd suggest giving a couple of games with my rebel teams a whirl and see what you think before changing other teams.

i'd say even on veteran with the lower skills there are still more edges and better AI play than get best pro.

I generally still play between amateur and pro with the current teams, and to be fair although bowling wise I find it way too easy on amateur and on pro its not too difficult, but with batting I probably average 50+ on amateur but I really struggle on pro, maybe averaging low 20s. I played a t20 on veteran once against AI and was all out for maybe 120 if that, which the AI polished of 3 down and with about 5 overs to spare!! So I'm a bit worried about playin on vet!!!

my experience on Pro was batting was about right, maybe a touch easy, but i was (with lowered skills) knocking the AI over a bit too easily in FC or restricting their scores in limited overs.

veteran i'm just getting destroyed. with an hour to go on day 3 of 4 the score is: AI made 311/10, I responded with 183/10. AI made 513/8 to set me 642 to win, or 120 overs to survive. I'm 11/2 off 7 overs!

@shan111 do you play with reduced skills? it does minimise the slogging to an extent.

@blockerdave Yes. I first started playing with the Weaklings team that you posted. Currently I'm using @Markkkkk 's teams with reduced attributes.

Lowering stats reduces slogging significantly. What I'm trying to say is that they would keep blocking the good balls and all of a sudden they would try to play a aerial hoick to mid off/mid on and get caught after scoring something like 30(83). Also, the scoring shot that they try to play is mostly LT+RT shots. I think most of us would like to see the AI try to score with normal shots and only try LT+RT or other aggressive shots after they're settled. Not from the first ball of a Test match. I've not seen lowered stats having any effect in making AI to stop playing LT+RT shots and play normal shots instead.

Even with lowered stats AI always seem to get caught at cover/extra cover region of an offie if I keep bowling the sort of line that I generally bowl which is just outside off. I seem to pick up 9-10 wickets every match with my offspinner. Now I'm thinking about not playing with a spinner at all and go with all seam attack.

Yeah I'm on console and I thought Wealey was also, but he mentioned getting a run out during a match a couple of days ago so possibly not. @Ajh1977 I would say it' s definitely worth it but just don't go mad and change loads of teams as the patch will almost definitely mean having to change things once it is released. This is also a work in progress and possibly, most importantly you need to find what suits you personally. By this I mean the level you play on and also how good you are at either bowling and batting and adjust the skills to suit to find a balance that is good for you.

Completely agree with you shan about the shots the AI play. The batsman should just play non-trigger shots until they are settled unless they are brute or aggressive batman types. Big Ants description of a "precise batsman" for instance states "favours grounded shots" yet it couldn't be any further from this description.

In regards to spin bowling have you tried drastically reducing the spinner's skill at all? I find that they need to be set far lower than you would have the seamer's set up. Nathan Lyon for example I have set up so that his skills are only around 5 for all apart from offspin which is around 12/13 so he will still turn the ball.

@cooks1st100 No I have not reduced spinner's skill. Actually, I increased all the attributes of spinner except drift which I've set to zero. I increased the attributes as I was finding spinners way too easy to bat against. So decided that I should increase stat for all the spinners to make them more difficult to bat against.
Now that you've mentioned it, I'll set the skills like you mentioned and see how it goes. Probably I'll still keep the opposition spinner with increased stat and only change the spinner that I'll be bowling with.

Yeah that's the way to do it. Like I said in my previous post it's a case of finding the balance to suit your ability. As I'm poor at batting I keep bowling skills the same for both the AI and human controlled team but will slightly increase the batting skills of the human controlled team. It means a small bit of time taken fiddling around with attributes, but in comparison to how long a test match takes to complete it's a drop in the ocean.

Just remember, as @cooks1st100 has mentioned in another post, if you set a certain skill to 0, it's not 0. You have to at least put half an increment in a skill, otherwise it becomes a random amount for that skill. (Pretty sure it was cook that found this, might be wrong. lol)

This is just speculative and personally I disagree with this. I set my tailenders up with zero for all batting skills and anticipation set to minimum and this works fine for me. Drift also, I generally set to zero but not for all, so bowlers have a degree of individuality.

With seam bowlers though, if I set up a bowler who I consider to be someone who doesn't swing the ball, I will set their swing rating to half an increment for each just to give a slight deviation from the straight seam delivery.

mmm, thanks for clearing that up then. lol. Been avoiding giving anyone 0 for a skill.lol

I tried a few combinations for tailenders and went back to zero for all because I was rarely having issues with getting them out set up this way, but also this was the only setting that gave realistic scores when games were simulated.

Quick question and couldn't find an answer/similar issue in other threads so far. I use to have lots of rain happening on PS3 version of the game but haven't had one day of rain since playing it on PS4 in career mode & other formats.Even if I did chance the setting to 'random with a chance of rain'.

Anyone else experienced this? What do you suggest I do to change this?

bit off topic , wonder how DBC will play on Ignite Engine i just cant stop imagining it. only problem is its proprietary Engine so no luck :( but we can always build better one as we move forward, designed specially for Cricket
