Man that has 2 hurt getting 0/27 off 2 overs but then again when i bowled my first over (real life) i got like 5 wides and 2 no-balls and 2 fours, so thats like 15 runs off one over, but in the next game, i got 5/7 off 3 overs. :)

Nice bowling Mick. Anyway, can't wait for the next update, Short Leg.

:cheers

Pura Cup ? Game 4
Victorian Bushrangers Vs New South Wales Blues
The MCG, Melbourne
29th November 2006

After the wicket fell I picked up my gloves and helmet and headed straight for the dressing room door. Today just feels like my day as the sun is out the outfield an even pace and most importantly the pitch is playing well. I was welcomed out onto the MCG by an anxious Melbourne crowd, which is always a sign that the game isn?t going the way we wanted it to.

As usual Huss was out in the middle waiting for me and he seemed in a very positive frame of mind offering encouragement as he played a few practice shots. The Blues now have us right where they want us wit two new batsman at the crease and the top 4 back in the shed.

After waking up the short cover with a crushing cover drive I soon managed another one this time into the gap at extra cover to take the single off Simon Katich and get off the mark. Thankfully im yet to get out for a duck in my first class career.

Unfortunately a duck wasn?t far away. Not for me but for my partner Dave Hussey who has been hitting the ball so well this season and must have felt on top of the world. Hopefully this set back wont destroy the roll he was on as the straightening leggy hit his off stump and sent him on his way. You guessed it my new partner is the skipper Cameron White and there is going to need to be some heroics from both of us to get us out of this predicament now.

Thanks for the comments boys even that rubbish about NSW winning. I'd also like to dedicate all of today's posts to the Queen who provides us all with an excuse for a day off. Cheers.

Some small resistance has come from the Victorian?s Slatter and White at the MCG as the home side still trails by almost 150 runs. It?s looking more and more like the NSW Blues are going to register their first points for the season through this first innings at the moment.

The removal of the bails by the umpires was welcomed by the Victorians who now have the chance to regroup for 20 minutes and then get back out on to the MCG and get back to business.

You don?t have to be a rocket surgeon to see the Blues are on top at the moment and they have gotten there through Thornely, Katich and Lambert with the bat but also some solid bowling from the wicket taker Nicholson and line and length from Bradstreet and Bollinger plus the surprise of spinning option Krejza and Katich who both have a wicket. If the Victorians are to have any success in this innings this next session leading up to stumps needs to be a solid one and they cant afford to lose more then 1 wicket. It will be tough but are the Victorians up to it?

After a 20 minute break one of the umpires stuck his head inside our dressing room door and said ?It?s time to get back out there? so me and Whitey picked up our gear and headed back out to the centre for the next 2 hours of play before stumps. All the boys know just how important the session is to the team a it can either mean we are playing for a draw or are back in the match come tomorrow.

A talk with my partner and skipper over tea meant that we had both decided we want to be around about 270 at leased by stumps for no more then 6 down. A quiet session is ok by our standards as long as wickets don?t fall regularly.

I picked up comfortably from where I left off as Bollinger was brought back in the attack and immediately targeted my pads as he suspected a weakness there which was fine with me as I picked up easy runs into the vacant mid wicket region and occasionally when he got full I drove down the ground for runs.

All was going well and it was looking like Cameron and myself where getting some momentum back in the innings when Whitey made a mistake. A Simon Katich chinaman pitching just on leg stump and them straightening to go over the top and miss leg was given out to a half hearted appeal to really have us back to square one.

The pressure is now on me and the last of the capable batsman Nathan Pilon. Nathan and me have shared two successful partnerships in the ING Cup but what will today hold? All of a sudden our goal of only losing one wicket in this session is looking very shaky.

When Nathan Pilon arrived out in the middle with me I let him know that the game plan from here to stumps was to take it easy and build a partnership. It doesn?t really matter now how many behind we are at stumps or what the score is we just need to bat for time at the moment. My theory is the longer we take now means the less time we have to bat for a draw should the worst case scenario happen.

All successful innings have a bit of luck at some stage and I?d like to think mine hasn?t come yet as an LBW appeal was turned down by umpire ?trigger finger? gave me not out rightly as Katich from the left handers over the wicket slid one across and my big stride forward erased all doubt.

Drinks are taken at the top of the hour, which again gives us just that little bit of time to regroup and get ready for the final hour of play with a little help from the sponsors, Gatorade who have not offered me a cent to endorse there fine product which is not only refreshing but tastes good as well and comes in a variety of flavours. I let Nath know that we just need to be here at stumps an then we will be ok leading into tomorrow. If we manage to bat until lunch tomorrow then the scores will most likely be level and we can have an even money chance of winning the game.
