England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

Wow, 5 overs done and the openers still out there! I'm predicting 2-1 for India this series.

Was just about to say, keep it going guys, need a big 1st innings score here for sure.

I think you are forgetting that they are playing in India and not in England.

We played New Zealand in India too. :p

Both the openers starting to open up now. Impressed with Sehwag's approach so far. This approach brought him huge success at the early stage of his test career where he and Akash Chopra blunted Australia in Australia in 2003... Size up the opposition, get a hang in out there and then gradually press the accelerator.

Hope they go on for a big one! England might be in for a tough game, more so since they most likely will bat last.

When even the new ball doesn't swing, you know Jimmy is going to struggle!

Hah, Sehwag's killin' it right now. Jimmy kinda sorta has his length right, just the line needs some tweaking, reckon he'll get the hang of it by the 4th Test or so. :p

Good lord this is a dull pitch. A new ball really should be able to bounce over the stumps. Time for Sehwag to sit on the frong foot and pretend he's a world class batsman again :rolleyes

I don't know who to go for in this series. I think England, just.

Wow... Dravid in the commentary box!:cheers Should be great fun to see Dravid and Saurav talk about the game together in the commentary box.. Hope it happens!

Well this will be demotivating for England if India score 450+ in first innings. They will start batting on Day 2 which will obviously start turning. I wont be surprised if Ojha like New Zealand test opens the bowling.

Off the front foot as well. Indian pitches actually make test cricket boring. I can see why all your seamers end up as injury prone medium pacers with confidence issues. Zaheer only came good once he came and bowled in England for a season with Worcestershire.

@cricketaddict, it's already looking like a 500+ wicket if you're batting first.

I am disappointed Cook hasn't given Swann a twirl before drinks. Would have been worth a couple of overs.

So has sourpu...I mean puddleduck complained about the pitch yet :p?

First match I've watched since the last ENG-SA test. I've lost interest in cricket these past 2 years for some reason. Only watch tests now.

The best way to stop Sehwag is to get him out. Thanks for that brilliant insight, Sanjay. Such an annoying commentator.

It's just so tedious to watch. Even Sri Lanka and Pakistan usually provide pitches with at least some bounce to them. It's just hardly a surprise when India go away from home and get beaten 4-0 by any country who make pitches that bounce above knee high.

Pretty much standard Sehwag as well. Sit on the front foot at home, score big hundreds, then get out cheaply everywhere else.

I'm not surprised you've lost interest if this is the usual pitches you get to watch :lol

Seriously, the bounce in this surface is shameful. When you see the side on views it's a joke. Anything on a length is coming through at half-volley height...

It's fair to say though that if Finn wasn't fit to bring some 90mph+ spells, then England should have just picked Panesar.

Shravi - did you follow the game when RD was commentating? Pretty excited when he did! He was sharing dressing room stuff about what he used to do when Sehwag batted, how he prepared for his innings, etc.

Hope we get to hear more of him...
