England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

They have to bat till tea. Hopefully with the tail batting sensibly and not chasing quick runs they can have a good go at it. Lose Prior and Cook before lunch and it's curtains.

India should be fined breaking ICC regulations on what is a good cricket wicket. Nulifying teams with just a pitch is what make the ranking such a farce.

Oh boy! This is not a good scene for India. Yes, India will come out fresh today but we really have to get Cook and Prior out to win this match. Even if one of them gets through the first session then this match will be a draw which is almost like a victory for England. Ashwin has been very poor in the second inning so lets hope he can change his stats tomorrow and take some wickets.

Great Fightback back by Prior and Cook.Even if england lose them till the end of 1st session,i think their tail is capable to resist for a while. But they must play more than half of the day 5.

Well played captain Cook. Fingers crossed these 2 stick around for a while longer in the morning.

Good thing... I am happy! Lot of nonsense being written in Cricinfo comments about how "country comes first" and how Sachin and Kohli came back to play after losing their respective fathers. Had he been in the army, there was some argument there. But he is playing a damn cricket game that fills that coffers of a private organization (BCCI). Sachin and Kohli were also doing the same thing, but they just fantasized the "playing for the country" bit too high (in Kohli's case, playing for his state side was the natural path to playing for the country).

Cook really is a superb batsman and must be by far the best opener around at the moment. Prior batting as well as he can too means we have a small chance of not losing.

I think what has been proven though, is that Swann is by far the best spinner on show in this match.

agreed, he's definitely one of the best players in the world right now and I'd rank him comfortably above KP. along with amla he's the best of the next generation of batsmen that you'd think will dominate the next decade.

One of? I'd go as far as to say he is the best. Perhaps tied with Hashim Amla but those two are quite far ahead of any competition at the moment. Michael Clarke has had a great year, but at lot of that was inflated in a series against India. Also, would like to see if he can maintain his good form outside Australia.

There's a few guys like Amla, Clarke etc who are having a good last 12 months, so too hard to call to say he's the very best on his own. But at a time when openers are struggling around the World really, he just keeps on grinding out runs.

He's going to have pretty much every English batting record by the time he ends his career as well. Needs just one more century to equal the record for an Englishman for example. He could end up with a crazy amount of Test runs.

if you're saying who's the best in the world right now then I think you still have to give players like kallis, sangakkara and perhaps chanderpaul their due and at least include them in the debate. they may be coming to the end of their careers but they're still going strong.

If you're talking to me, that's what the etc meant. I didn't feel the need to list 10 players or so.
