England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

Yeah, that's right. The 6 batsmen ahead of him who need to be doing the job have all failed. The pitches have been turning evident from the fact that England spinners have taken wickets. Anderson proved the other day that pacers can pick up wickets too on such tracks. Indian bowlers haven't put their hands up at all! Yet, it is only Dhoni who deserves the criticism. Why? Because he is the captain. Captain of a cricket team of a nation where cricketers are considered Gods one moment and their effigies are burnt the other moment. It must be so difficult for him, seriously. I know you aren't criticizing him but, still. Who do we have as the potential captain next? Kohli? He has been great in ODIs yes but, it is too early. I can't see anyone else there. Also, Dhoni is by far the best wicket keeper batsman atm for us even if we consider only Test matches. It isn't that he has been playing terribly himself. Tbf, I think it is the job of the specialist batsmen to score runs and wkb just fills in mostly. He has a respectable avg. as well.

EDIT: Also, as a captain he really can't do much when opposition bowlers take wickets and his bowlers fail to do the same on same track. Indian spinners were considered better than English spinners and English batsmen were considered as being terrible against spin. I don't Dhoni, the captain could do much, could he?

Lmfao, you are going to play this argument on me of all people? I'm usually the one defending the captains/football managers to the last of my abilities, but someone has to take the responsibility and I'm sorry but it's always the captain and coach. Just how things go man...

----------

I want him in the job as much as you do, but I'm just predicting what's going to go down if we lose this series. Maybe Dhoni will pull a rabbit out of the hat and England will collapse tomorrow morning for something as low as 4 for 10 and our batsmen will actually score some runs and save the game. Big maybes though, but maybe it'll happen...

Want it very badly to see the back of Duncan Fletcher and his management team, and hopefully that of Dhoni the captain. The old argument of "who is there to replace Dhoni the captain" doesn't hold water. We have quite a few guys who can captain India in tests. Give it to Gambhir. Though Kohli has failed this series, he has cemented his spot in the test side. Give it to him. Giving it to young blood can actually work. Or give it to Pujara, again on the argument of giving it to young blood. Pujara is the only guy who has improved upon his reputation tremendously in this series. And he had a very good series against New Zealand too.

The management team HAS TO GO! Duncan Fletcher has pushed this team to the worst possible depths, and I won't agree with any idiot who says that the coach is not responsible for this. Of course, the captain is also responsible but the coach is also responsible for our predicament right now. We need a major shakeup of Indian cricket right now. Maybe a series loss to England here won't be bad at all. It could bring some major changes. Losing a series at home where you are considered strong and invincible, is grave cause for concern and if the board and the selectors continue the same "we will bounce back soon" approach, a lot of fans will show their middle finger to the board and will stop following Indian cricket.

I still believe India can save this match. England will probably bat until lunch, and then India have to bat out 5 sessions. Which this India line-up is more than capable of doing.

Statchin is still hungry for 50's; Pujara is in form; Kohli is bound to turn up; Sehwag can still have one of his blitzkreig sessions; Gambhir has a point to prove; Ashwin is determined to make people see him as the next Laxman; Dhoni got a 50 in the first innings. Only the tail and Yuvi which could be a problem.

Chak de India! :thumbs

Forgot that Ojha's confident that he can still save the match. Just Yuvi then :D

I think Finn may well be the difference in India's second innings. He was unlucky in the first innings and I think the pitch will make him very dangerous on day 4 and 5. The inconsistent bounce coming at 140k's will surely make him a real threat.

if bell is a specialist player of spin how come he isnt showing it he had his chance in the UAE and now in India and he isnt hitting runs. Bairstow and Morgan waiting for a chance to earn place. Morgan can play spin give him another chance and he is aggressive we sometimes need the big hitting players as we only have Pietersen who is willing to hit a ball.

Finn should get more wickets in the second innings and Monty the wicket seems to turn. Monty looks in great form in these conditions reckon he will get a five wickets haul the pitch seems to do a lot now.

Monty keep up the clapping:lol

Hard hitting? Its the truth, lolz I had quoted Virat's excuse somewhere in this thread before, hahaha! Nah but its a good article.

India cannot win this match again, they can play for a draw but it will be extremly difficult, sure they will have to keep strike for 5 sessions there about.

Now some irate poster keeps posting that the pitch is slow and low and the Indian batsmen like it so, well even if he is right against Anderson/Swann an inform Panesar and the returning Finn it seems impossible. India on paper have the batsman to knock down any score but they dont have batsmen to stay in and concentrate for long periods, they dont have Dravid and its hurting them alot.

I say England should send them in from ball one on the 4th day use the the early moisture and nip out the top order, if this occurs they may have already won this match!

Though India got the wickets today very quickly, they probably might not be helped too much by it because they now have to bat almost two days to save this test match. The good thing for them is, this pitch is not as venomous as the one in Mumbai. If they apply themselves, a draw can be had here.

As long as Sehwag stays out there, England need to be very worried. He is a guy who can change games from hopeless positions to possibly winning positions. If Sehwag stays on the pitch for another session, India would most likely be back in the game. The way Sehwag and Gambhir showed aggression and scored runs against England's spinners tells me that there is lot of runs to be had on this pitch and India truly fluffed it up with bad batting in the first innings to be in the position that they are. They can still recover, but they will need Sehwag to bat out the day today for them to come back into the game and put pressure on England.

Now India has got the start they were almost praying for. Hope they don't give away from here.

Interestingly, all the Indian bowlers got a wicket on their second ball today. That said, it will be interesting to see if they can bat these many sessions or pile up a good lead on England to draw the match.

Gone first ball..... With that, probably the match! DAMN!!:facepalm

Run out? Seriously? It's not like you can win this match.

When there is Gambhir, there has to be a run out! I'm off to sleep.... Seriously, this is going to start looking painstaking.:wave
