England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

So utterly frustrating to watch for the Indian fans! If this does not result in a major change, I don't know what will:rolleyes

All the players I said are technically flawed but Sachin ain't, once he starting to play positively there will be lot more runs. Currently he lacks the confidence to play his natural game. I don't know why, may be some kind of mental block. He is just one century away from his old self.

You're right. Sachin isn't technically flawed. He's just a slow old man now that is unable to bring the attack to the opposition.

True, really embarrassing. It's supposed to be a sweet revenge series... :(

Really hope they cancel that Pakistan series because India's gonna get dominated.

Also, comfort for India fans - the girl in my avatar's name is Alina Vacariu. Google image search her :)

Oh dear, the wheels have truly come off for India. Bad enough to be 207 runs behind on 1st innings, but to collapse from 86/0 to 122/6 is poor fare indeed. 36 runs for six wickets, seems a bit role reversal.

Drop Monty, not taking a wicket 2nd innings :D But seriously, who should make way (if anyone)

Trott - 104 runs @ 26.00
Patel - 69 runs @ 17.25 & 1 wkt
Bell - 27 runs @ 9.00
Finn - 2 wkts

Likeliest victims of any change for the final Test. Assuming we are dormi 2-1 up, I would consider the batting line-up carefully so I'd drop Bell like a lead weight. The balance has worked ok so far this Test, but we're in this position because of Cook, Compton, Trott and Pietersen batting, Anderson, Panesar and Swann bowling. Prior did ok, so even on the basis of this Test alone then Bell, Patel and Finn are the trio most likely to be replaced.

Not that Finn has done anything wrong, I just wonder if we need two seamers of whom one can't bat. Bresnan made way for Monty having done not a lot wrong, at least he can bat if he isn't taking wickets. The decision to leave Monty out of the first Test looks horrendous, 15 wickets in two Tests while Swann is only edging ahead on the 2nd innings by two wickets having played all three. The seamers have done well 2nd innings, three wickets compared to the seamers' combined tally of six from the previous 2.5 Tests.

I do fear England will c**k it up in the final Test and draw 2-2, that fear including a decision to keep Bell in the side and perhaps even retain Patel who has done little wrong, but little to write home about. 17 runs and a wicket every three Tests is hardly worthy of inclusion, hell we might as well include Luke Shight or the Yardystick in the side if we're going for not a lot of bleeding use. He was part of the failed tactic of three seamers, one spinner, one spanner. Now we have two spinners he needs to score runs or ski-daddle.

Bad enough we're carrying ding dong, the only batsman yet to pass 30, his HS of 22 only one better than Swann's 21 and Swann has 17 wickets to his name. They should have sent Bell's missus out instead of him.

:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm

This comment deserves one more :facepalm

:lol

We need an experienced senior player to teach the youngsters while molding a new team and Sachin is defenitely better than all the other Senior craps currently in the Indian team. So facepalm all the day at that comment if u want.

Do you know how to read? Or is that why you use smileys instead?

Sachin has accomplished too much to be dropped. It would be highly disrespectful. However, he is quite clearly past it as I have said COUNTLESS times on PC. I suggested that he should retire himself, or be urged to retire (either by selectors or in an impossible scenario, the fans). However, dropping him makes me very uneasy and would leave a real sour taste.

Oh do second word off, it's bad enough you bellends have your knickers in a knot over DRS but then to twist it as if England are unsportsmanlike is just stupid. The indians would be all over the umpire like he was Custer if the situations were reversed.

Anyway, shouldn't you be worrying about the failings of your precious side? Maybe they need to cheat a bit more, brown paper bag in the direction of Custer might be a bit more productive than turning your prepubescant anger at England.

An Owzat post without mindless stats. :thumbs

So you think just because the BCCI doesn't support DRS that automatically all the fans don't either?

Yes, you're right. I've completely overlooked India's performance. It's not like that's been the only thing I've talked about in my last 10 posts or anything. But hey, if they didn't have insignificant stats in them, I suppose I can excuse you for not reading them.

I'm encouraged by the fact Indian fans care and aren't just saying "it's only test cricket".

----------

On the Tendulkar thing he needs to be persuaded to retire.

Sehwag out/retire. Rahane in. Gambhir out. Mukund in.
Sachin retire. Tiwary (?) in.
Ishant out. Umesh in (admittedly, he will be when he's fit).
Zaheer retire. PK/Aaron in.
Ashwin out. Not sure who should come in but he's been shocking.

On overseas tours perhaps Yadav, PK and Aaron in a 3 man pace attack with Ojha. It doesn't really strike fear, but it's a step forwards, I feel.

I also don't see a place for Dhoni in tests anymore, either as a captain, batsman, or a wicket-keeper. He doesn't command a place as a wicket-keeping-batsman and his keeping has greatly deteriorated (possibly due to being overworked, but even so).

Yuvraj is simply not a test match batsman and he doesn't seem to bowl enough to warrant a place as an allrounder. I want to give Jadeja a chance. I know he hasn't impressed in multiple opportunities in the shorter format, but his FC record is far superior to his limited overs one. There's less reliance on him to get his runs very quickly, and his bowling is likely to be more effective in a format in which strike rates are lower (he buckles under that pressure, generally)
