Trott plumb not given.Cook given out when he was not.Well,whatever India would take Cook over Trott any day.
The pitch has uneven bounce. It's not Ishant, although he's working very hard like he always has. He got two wickets - Compton, who's new and a very average batsman, and the Cook decision was atrocious. Compton basically threw his own wicket away with that dab. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I am not going to watch this match. There seems to be a lot of favouritism as far as Jadeja is concerned. If India are already playing 3 spinners, why is there a need to go in with a 4th ? 
Add to that, Rahane would seem a better bet seeing that we desperately need to strengthen our batting.

I don't mind Jadeja that much as clearly it was a straight swap for yuvraj singh. They are just not changing the pattern of the allrounder. What I do mind is Chawla's inclusion.He has done nothing to warrant his selection and as the bounce(or the lack of it)is helping the lone seamer,India would have been better off with Awana /Dinda.
Horrible team selections this is!!! Dhoni needs a sack. Everyone needs to go, including the entire management. When you have Rahane waiting in the side for a test spot (they told he is picked as a middle order player), they give it to Jadeja because Dhoni wants a "left arm for left arm" swap. And if you wanted an additional spinner so bad, he goes even further with an extra spinner in Chawla when you have Ashwin, Ojha and Jadeja (with Sehwag more than capable of turning an arm over too; not giving the ball to Sehwag in recent times is another story).
If this is just the captain and the team management's decision, its fine. But if the selectors and the board are also involved in it, then this is a non-curable disease that will only be cured by a major shakeup of Indian cricket's administration. Why don't people fight for spots for the BCCI (like how Pawar came in and fought bitterly with Dalmiya's then current administration)? THIS IS SICK!!!! Wouldn't mind India losing another test badly.

Lol this is laughable cricket. India go in with 4 spinners on a flat track and the only one to get any bite whatsoever is the lone seamer

Doesn't matter IMO. The selector's credibility went out the window when they selected Chawla, averaging 50 with the ball, in the squad in the first place. But putting him in the XI?! Give me a break. Jadeja is a hack and always will be, regardless of the number of triples he scores on flat Rajkot wickets. Fine, maybe his recent performances warranted a selection in the squad, that's all fine and dandy. But picking him over Rahane, who has toured with the team for so long and proven himself consistently at the domestic level for YEARS, especially in a time we need a SPECIALIST batsman? THAT TOO when we are already playing 3 spinners?? Disgraceful
Ishant is just coming off a loooong injury and this is putting such an overburden on him to perform. He is going to toil long and hard on this Day 1 pitch against a solid England attack and come up with some crazy injuries after this. They are hurting his career too.
I have a feeling that this was the only 11 players that showed up to the stadium and was the defacto team. maybe rahane and the other seam bowlers got stuck in traffic and couldn't make it on time or something, i just can't wrap my mind around Dhoni, Fletcher, and the selection staff to consciously pick such an XI.

Yeah, agreed. But, 4 spinners is wayyy too much. We could have easily played Rahane in the middle order than Jadeja and 3 spinners would be okay. But, for me only Ashwin and Ojha should have been picked. Chawla is crap. Ashwin, Ojha, Ishant and one of Dinda/Awana should have been the case with Rahane getting in.
