330 represents a good total, good bash by Swann which helped get there and Root joint top scoring is a feather in his cap, shows what I was saying about the established players and dropping them was true and you can't just assume someone coming in can't make runs because established players don't.
Interesting comparison between KP and Swann, both made fifties, both you could argue sold their wicket a bit cheaply, but I would blame KP way more than Swann. Swann knew he was our last hope of runs, KP got out at a bad time and left it to Root, Prior and Swann to make the runs. On reflection, does 330 seem a little on the low side considering FIVE batsmen reached 44? You'd hope one would have gone on and made a century.
I was right on three counts, the morning was crucial as usual, Swann should be batting above Bresnan/generally and we shouldn't hope for much more than 300 - I'm not even including being right about Bell, wonder if he will do better 2nd innings.
Good early wicket, England will want to make the Indians work for their runs it's good that Sehwag didn't get away. I'm not convinced you have to bat as slowly as some England batsmen did in order to score runs, England can't assume the pace will be pedestrian. It is good Cook hasn't ponced about too long and has brought the spinners on, give them a go at the batsmen before the batsmen settle.
