England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

Where were you when Gambhir scored that 50 ball 50 in the 1st ODI? Oh yeah, I remember now, you were bitching and moaning about someone else...

Prove it.

Don't I have an opinion of my own ? It seems as if you want to run this forum according to your wishes. People have differing opinions and thats why we discuss. If not, then it would have been a fan club wherein anything done by any player is applauded.

MSD's captaincy was the major issues in the post I made a few hours ago. Not my bloody fault, if cerande does not understand the context. Just go on, show me where I have criticized his batting in that post.

You have answered it yourself. It is GG. The main thing is- it hurts to see a talent like Pujara who is ,in the pink of his form, and is made to sit out.
I am with you on Pujara part. But, I think it would be unfair on Gambhir if Dhoni drops him. Yes, he hasn't been scoring all that well in recent matches but, none of the other batsmen are apart from Dhoni. Pujara will get his chances, I am sure. His talent will make way for him one way or the other.

Prove what lol, you just shagged off GG a second ago...

Sorry if I came off as a total prick because that was totally not what I was going for, opinions are cool, just don't force it down everyone's throat week after week. ;)

What a thumping win! I liked Bhuvaneshwar's bowling today, and Jadeja finally proved to be of some use.

I am very impressed with Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Even if he gets carted around in a few games, the guy has the stuff to keep people interested in him. Even on a decently helpful track, he is close to being a handful. When I saw him in the IPL, I thought this guy is going to be another Vinay Kumar type bowler. But he is proving me wrong. Hope he stays up with these performances.

Ashwin's comeback today with the ball, sealed it for England. How was his bowling today? Was he trying too many variations as usual, or was he different? His problem is, he tries too much to the point of being stubborn. Hope his comeback today is a long term one.

P.s: Who is the Man of the Match? Ideally should be Jadeja.

I might have done that .Sorry about that.
Moving on,an excellent win.It was Jadeja's day really.I think he was bowling good from last couple of matches. But if his batting continues to be of value that will be a big plus.Ashwin was poor than what his figures show. Two were tailenders and one was simply lucky.
On Bhuvaneshwar, any assistance from the pitch and he looks a fine bowler. He might be a good prospect for India.

I was afraid of this happening...........India cricket has finally risen, hahhhhhha!

Sir Ravindra Jadeja :clap

Captain to the rescue again. Raina also played a fine inning. I hope Ashwin improves his performance throughout the series.

Overall a good team performance. RJ did come good after a long hiatus[with the bat]. He has been in good nick with the ball.

Regarding Ashwin, read it on TOI that he is under the scanner with Harbhajan being considered for the Tests versus Aus. As mentioned earlier, Ashwin needs to flight his deliveries a bit more. Most of the times, our spinners try to concentrate on 'containment' not 'wicket-taking':(

The balance of the England team was just wrong today. Woakes playing as the 3rd seamer was a bad move. When Trott comes back, england's top 6 off cook, bell, trott, kp, morgan, kieswetter is settled. But this # 7 spot still is a bit off an issue.

You are getting it wrong. The problem with Ashwin is not lack of flight. The problem with him is more that he tries too many things and is not patient enough. His variety might fetch him some wickets in T20's or even ODI's but in tests where batsmen are patient, he can be negated. Harbhajan is the guy who can be blamed more for 'lack of flight'. He just keeps darting the ball onto the batsman's pads quickly and so often.

A new spinner should be tried against Australia in place of Ashwin. As much as I like Ashwin for his batting, his bowling against stronger teams leaves me massively disappointed. We need new options now. Won't be a bad idea to try Mishra and Ojha against Australia.
