England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

Amla and Clarke are at a notch above Cook, I feel. He's still circumspect against quality fast bowling - was average against SA this summer and against Pak in 2010.

Are you saying India don't have quality fast bowlers?

If you're talking to me, that's what the etc meant. I didn't feel the need to list 10 players or so.

I really should quote more, I agree with you and my post was in reply to shravi.

yeah I agree about that, he's dodgey on swing and seam when it can be pitched up but overseas on bouncey pitches or spinning decks he's really, really good, if he was asian or australian or west indian his average would have been over 50 for a long time. I like though that he developed a lot of patience to see out the new ball and get in even in england most of the time.

Forgot they had the next Wasim Akram in their attack - the impecable Ashish Nehra :thumbs

He's clearly the best English batsman on spinning decks. Even in the UAE whitewash, I think he managed 2 50+ scores. I'm still not convinced on bouncy pitches. Next years Ashes in Australia should be interesting, and if he goes away averaging half of what he achieved last time down under, then I will agree.

Back to the match, this has been a great knock by him. If he bats until lunch and England save the game, then it will be his best knock yet.

That's my man Ojha, time to wrap the innings up.

----------

btw, brilliant captain's inning from Cook.

----------

Yadav gets Braod. I think he has bowled very well in both the innings.

----------

I think what has been proven though, is that Swann is by far the best spinner on show in this match.

I think Ojha clearly came out as a better spinner in the match.

Haha, Ojha completely lost it there!

Here I was thinking it was actually over something serious.

Yadav getting some nice swing here, that was plumb as well, really do hope Aleem Dar and Tony Hill don't umpire the next Test in Mumbai.

I know both seamers are getting reverse swing but I feel that Dhoni should bring in Ashwin now and have spinners from both ends.

India would be pleased to wrap up the England's remaining half without giving away much runs. That said, I expected Yuvraj to bowl a lot more overs than he actually did. Particularly, considering that the pitch has assisted the spinners more often than not and Cook alongwith Prior was playing gem of an innings.

----------

A target of 77, without a shadow of doubt, should be a cakewalk for us. That said, if England get 3-4 wickets, their confidence will be high.
