Great to see the West Indians win a test series against a top test side.
Hopefully, they`ll follow it up with more solid performances.Their real test will be their return-leg tour to England. If they can put up a solid show there,it would mean that they are back on track.

From the English point of view, they might feel that they should have won this 2-1 with 2 matches saved by the West Indians by the skin of their teeth.Did Strauss declare a bit too late on both occasions ? The defeat will now taste all the more bitter because the Ashes rivals Australia have got back on track with a win over the Proteas.

West Indies seem to be a more determined test side at home.In 2006, against India they lost the test series 1-0 but they would have lost it 3-0 had it not been for a couple of draws which were salvaged with only 1 and 2 wickets in hand respectively in a couple of test matches.
Fidel Edwards batted out the last few tense moments in those test matches as well.

As someone who has watched Prior more than most, he has improved, this match has been poor, and to be fair to the guy, he does have a new born son, so could you really blame him if a part of his game wasn't up to scratch? He has been poor, his keeping vs the spinner needs work. But if people want a keeper who will take everything (let's take someone like Foster) then you forgo a batsman who is averaging high 40s and is arguably better than some of our specialist batsman. Is he Adam Gilchrist? No. Is he good enough to play Test cricket for England? Yes. I hate this, "one bad game and out" view that so many have, very rarely is it justified.

I don't think manee or I said that he should go out, just that his keeping isn't that good.

I don't recall saying that he should be dropped, I may have, but don't recall it and do not believe that. Prior's batting is intensively useful to the side and on the majority of tracks (I'm talking anything but a belter in which a win is needed), his sloppy keeping would be worth the runs he gets.

One of the two matches in the series where the ball actually went off the straight, once in a while.

T20 side for England then? I'd rest Flintoff, it's a nothing game, so he might as well not play, give Rashid a go. I'd go in with:

Strauss
Bopara
Pietersen
Shah
Collingwood
Prior
Mascheranhas
Rashid
Broad
Anderson
Amjad????

Actually, seeing that I think we need Flintoff. Amjad's got a woeful economy in T20 cricket, even if he does have an average just above 20. Get Flintoff in and batting above Prior.

Amjad's ODI and T20 records don't fill me with confidence, neither does his no ball problem.

Yeh, that's why I edited. He's got a good T20 average, but his economy is awful, and we can't afford his no balls with the free hit rule. Just gotta hope Flintoff's fit or we'll have to play Harmison or Batty =/ or go in with the extra batsman which would probably be Bell...........

I thought Flintoff was done for the series?

Also taking Amjad in the last test on the basis of him picking up 5 wickets against a side where the majority of the players haven't played a 1st class match (and a few guys were actually younger than 20) was a huge mistake for England.
And the way he performed in the one test I don't think he can cut it in the 20/20 or 50 over game.

Is Prior an automatic for the Twenty20's and ODI's? He has 1 50 in 31 innings at an average of 22. Davies has batted brilliantly for Worcestershire opening the batting and is a better wicket keeper so I would prefer him.

Amjad didn't look particularly brilliant in the last test and his no-balls are an issue so I would go in with Harmison.

Rashid has to be given his chance now since this is the only chance to see what he has until Swann and Patel come back.

Unlucky for Bopara but there is no room for him up the order but he's proven to be a good finisher in the past.

My Team for 1st T20's:

Strauss
Davies
Pietersen
Shah
Collingwood
Bopara
Mascheranhas
Rashid
Broad
Anderson
Harmison

Flintoff came back yesterday and can play in the ODs.

No, "May play a part in the series". Meaning he probably won't play till the 4th, 3rd at the earliest.

Khan should not be near an international side.

My 20 and ODI team england

Bopara
Davies
Pietersen (he should play no3)
Shah
Strauss (i know he lower but he can come in and quick run 40-50 over)
Collingwood
Mascheranhas
Rashid
Broad
Anderson
Khan ?? (i will give him one chance more )

OD team I would choose:

1. Strauss (c)
2. Prior (wk)
3. Pietersen
4. Bopara
5. Shah
6. Collingwood
7. Flintoff
8. Broad
9. Anderson
10. Harmison
11. Batty

Well the WI announced their squad for the 20/20. I'm not sure whats the deal with Dave Mohammed because he hasn't played for T&T in a while but if he is fit he should be there for ODIs and this one 20/20.

I personally would have left out Chanderpaul because of his injury and I would have saved him for the ODIs. Also Bravo makes his long awaited return and it will be nice to see him in action.

West Indies Twenty20 squad: Denesh Ramdin (capt & wk), Lionel Baker, Sulieman Benn, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Fidel Edwards, Andre Fletcher, Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Lendl Simmons, Devon Smith, Jerome Taylor

so my squad would be something like this.

Simmons
Fletcher
Sarwan
Bravo
Pollard
Sammy
Ramdin +*
Benn
Taylor
Edwards
Baker

Hope Andre can put on a performance like he did against England in the Stanford 20/20.
