England Tour Of Bangladesh 2010

Ashraful is just awful. Maybe the best thing is for him to have a break and then return when he's a bit fresh.

Good innings from Tamim. Typical Bangladesh where it's only a single innings that holds the team together. And only 19 for Mr. Kieswetter. Hope to see a big one from him in the last couple of ODIs.

I think that if Bangla have to create soome problems to other good team then they can't rely on one player's contribution they do need more runs from their middle order

Khalek you are the kufa! all that negative talk from you killing them!

how many ████ LBW calls were there, like 5? Cook and Morgen both got 'life' from the umpires. and so did the new guy, but its ok because couldnt do any damage.

Nothing works for us so why not try being a KUFA! :p

Forgot to bash Mushfiq here, he dropped a catch and missed 1 stumping chance, FAIL keeper. Dhiman Ghosh is a God behind the stumps.

And I just want to see Bangladesh bat 2nd tomorrow cause batting seems a lot easier in the evening and that was also the case in the tri-series recently but we never batted 2nd there either :doh

Same old Bangladesh with the bat though, when one player makes 120 and as a team you only make 220 your've done something wrong. After having them out in New Zealand recently I'll definitely be watching out in the coming months to see how they go. They've improved IMO a lot since early 2008 (better talent anyway).

I really wouldn't be surprised if everything clicked and they won a couple of ODI's during this series.

Edit: Ah, there is only two more games left.

Bangladesh can play well in spells, problem is they need to start putting it altogether and posing more than periodic threats. What was it yesterday, 63/0 (1st wkt) then 83/6 then 63/0 (7th wkt) then 19/4. That's why they are so poor in Tests, they are inconsistent and you can't afford too many poor spells in Tests with bat or ball or the game gets away from you.

As for suggestions England could become a Sri Lanka, no chance. Not while the selectors are so hit and miss. If they picked a player with ACTUAL talent and stuck with them it would be a refreshing change. These days it seems to be the same old faces with the rest almost on rotation from one series to the next. We've been a poor ODI side since 1992, not because we haven't the players but selection has become more and more of a joke, flitting between specialist batsmen and bowlers, to (supposed) specialist ODI players to bits n pieces cricketers and full circle. We need two bowlers in the side purely for their bowling, 2-3 all-rounders who can bat and bowl and I mean actually bat and actually bowl not just nominally so, and the best five batsmen including the keeper. The last spot or two would be down to the balance of the rest, the match would be long lost if we needed our number 10 to bat for any length of time and surely Bresnan and Wright aren't good enough bowlers if not much better batsmen

I don't think the side is too bad, just always seem to be a couple of changes required whenever they pick a squad. Given the players available for selection right now, I think we should have gone for:

Jonathan Trott
Craig Kieswetter +
Ed Joyce
Kevin Pietersen
Paul Collingwood *
Eoin Morgan
Luke Wright
Graham Napier
Graeme Swann
Stuart Broad
James Tredwell

I'd actually be happy to stick with that top 6, even when Strauss is back too. Joyce was magnificent in OD cricket last year, and how he hasn't got a call-up to be in the squad at least I don't know. Strauss hasn't been great in ODi's, and I'd be happy to leave him out if Joyce and Trott score runs. With Jimmy and Fred both out, I've gone for James Tredwell and Graham Napier to boost the bowling. I'm still trying to work out why the 2nd spinner wasn't played on that surface for the first game, especially considering Fat Sid's looked terrible in ODi's for a long time. Prefer Napier to Shahzad and Sidebottom too, but wouldn't be too fussed if it was Plunkett that came in. Looks a much better side than the shambles that is the England ODi squad for this series.

Can't wait until Flintoff is back so we can finally get rid of Wright.

Wright is just yet another player England have ruined by just not playing as a batsman or a bowler, he's just...there.

I like Wright. He's clearly in the side as a batting allrounder, but for me, he's one of the few players who can clear the ropes at the end for us. It's all very good having your Collingwood's and Pietersen's scoring quickly, but I'd say Wright is as good as either of them at finding the ropes. He just gets let down because his stats aren't great due to the slogging that he has too do.

Mashrafe is not fit. he should be rested. he needs to take him ass back to gym and lose about 15-20 pounds. he is fat!

England seriously needs to drop Sidebottom from all formats. He's lost it. Why can't they see it?

Hopefully David Payne will be in England colors soon. Obviously not in the next 2 years though (too early). He has the talent to make it though, I think.

oh yes he does. gained like 50 pounds sitting at home and doing nothing. now that he can move, walk and run he should lose those. he is not ready for internationals

After a month or two playing games and with the team's regular training sessions, he'll be back to his old size. But like Howsie said, he doesn't really look terribly unfit.
