England Tour Of Bangladesh 2010

Cook batted beautifully, KP looked in excellent form until he got out, Carberry looked good against seam, poor against spin, Trott was unlucky to get dismissed. The less said about the bowling the better though, was some truely awful stuff from Bangladesh, and their fielding was just diabolical. Nice to see Cooky and KP get some runs though, just wish KP had gone on and made a massive score.

Ha ye i watched Carberry innings & as you said KP looked ok againts the pace & weak againts the spin. I was never too fond of him getting picked in the test squad ITFP, would have picked Key personally.

Then when i woke up & i saw KP was on 99, then he played that funny shot to get out :laugh. KP needs to be more focused againts these joke spinner yo..

Looking forward to seeing Finn bowl.

Big Mouth

bunch of BarmyArmy out there...

Shakib has called England "Middle Rankers" and India "Not The Real # 1", I mean you have to back up your mouth with something.

Shakib should show some guts and Bat First when he wins the toss like every other "Real Test Captain" and then talk.

I thought KP was going to get to 3 figures for sure. And then he gets bowled by Razzak. Goodness sake. But even if he got to 100, people would then say that it was only against Bangladesh. He's got to prove himself again against top flight opposition.

89.2 Tamim Iqbal to Cook, no run, slipping down leg, Cook misses it and Rahim fumbles but unlikely there was a stumping chance

Fumbling off a part timer, is he a keeper or what :facepalm
I'd give Mushfiqur some slack, I'm looking at Hawkeye and struggling to work out what Tamim bowls!

haha ya, did he bowl spin or ... ^^

well this must have been a geh match, thank god i wasnt here. they only got 1 wicket while i was gone for 3 hrs. (probably made more money then they did in those 3 hrs)

would have picked Key personally.

:noway

All this Test epitomises is the gulf still standing between the weakest nations and even the middle of the road teams like England. What is the point? England could score 600 or maybe even 700 but what would it prove?!?! More likely they will score a big score, possibly have to bat again and win with ease.

Come on ICC, wake up. Too much cricket, Test cricket needs a revamp and not because of T20. Bring in three tiers, promotion and relegation and aim to add a new tier every 2-3 years. Make cricket a GLOBAL sport, if people in non-Test countries can follow their country in cricket then the popularity will spread. It retains the elitist approach and "invites only" image which is too true.

NEW TEST CHAMPIONSHIP

Tier One - Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, India, England, Pakistan
Tier Two - New Zealand, West Indies, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Kenya
Tier Three - Scotland, Holland, Afghanistan, Canada, Namibia, UAE
Tier Four - Bermuda, Uganda, Oman, Denmark, Papua NG, Hong Kong

Anyone thinking those are random would be incorrect, that is using rankings up to the top 24. USA may be no surprise in Tier Five if it were extended that far, but maybe Argentina and Italy might be. Football extends World Cups to teams outside the top 10-16, when will cricket wake up and realise that we will only have half a dozen or so strong sides while (Test) cricket is kept to an elite few? How will popularity in a sport improve in a country who is ranked say 27th like Italy are and yet wouldn't get close to a World Cup because there are too few spaces?

Maybe Italy would get beat out of sight in a World Cup, but extending the structure of Tests and ODIs to include lesser countries means they have aims, like in Davis Cup tennis, and also teams like Bangladesh play teams of their own level rather than pointless Tests like at the moment.

Bell batting with Sachin's bat?

Both Adidas but they look different. Could be same kind of bat but different stickers.

behind the bat, exactly same sticker, so i thought it was Tendulkar's

I am glad they decided to bowl 1st, now the test will last for at least 3 days.

awww man declared!!

Shakib picked up a wicket!! i was hoping he would go wicket less for his mofo call

Ah thank God Bell didn't get a century. I couldn't put up with the "he only gets a century when others have done so already" discussion! The mans got a test average of over 42. He is good. Collingwood has matured into such a good player as well. I so remember him coming in the side during the Ashes of 2005 and thinking: mmm, what have we here. But he has proved time and time again what a good player he is.

Declaration of intent - and some. Obviously feel they don't need to bat on any longer, but the bowling attack of Finn, Bresnan, Broad and Swann is far from "experienced" so this could be a long Test after all.

It will be a shame and prove the Test pointless if Bangladesh don't at least make England work hard. While I think the best they can manage is a draw, that shouldn't be written off entirely. If this attack does destroy their batting then I think that should be a wake-up call to ICC, maybe the batting is near full-strength bar Carberry in for Strauss, but the bowling is arguably 2nd to 3rd choice at best

I'd say well done to the England runscorers but let's face it, they weren't exactly stretched

It's a bit hard to get a century before others when you bat down the order! And I think I showed before that he does score runs when it matters, despite the "icing on the cake" comment from slaggers (?) I find it rich coming from a journeyman cricketer, Boycotts taking the pisse out of his Test record is lame though considering how difficult that is - not!

Lol. Whereas I don't think this bowling attack will rip through Bangladesh I really do think they are going to struggle. but it is going to be one of those days that these bowlers will really need to bend there backs to get anything going and that will show a bit of their character. Really looking forward to Finn.

From cricinfo:

"Broad has a knew knitted-eyebrow look, befitting a man asked to 'lead' the attack. "

Nice.

Oh, here we go??? Didn't look comfortable at all. Broad strikes.

Good positive attitude from Bangladesh. But will that be good enough....
