Two down and heading for a three day Test at this rate. P-L-E-A-S-E Bangladesh either collapse or make a fight of it, something inbetween of some resistance but nothing like a real "Test" is even more pointless than the extremes.
Broad may well cut his average down below 30 during this series, seems about the only gain for other Test nations playing Bangladesh. P-L-E-A-S-E ICC arrange some five day "Tests" between Ireland and Bangladesh, Scotland and Bangladesh, Kenya and Bangladesh and at least TEST whether a move towards more Test playing nations in a restructured format is workable. I'm sure it is inevitable, they can't add any more Test nations the way it is and I suspect only ICC resistance to any kind of change will prevent it happening any time soon. Maybe in 20 years time when cricket truly is dying on its feet they'll wake up too late. While T20 is the current fad I can assure you I found the brief bit of yesterday's IPL game tedious, unentertaining and watched weakest link instead - and that is a boring quiz! High octane action my Rs, misfields, loads of ads, cr ap commentary, nothing special activity and so "entertaining" that they did an interview with Gary Sobers whose lips were moving but he was talking out of his Rs. He tried to suggest tactics play a part in T20, like L they do. The batsmen were trying to score, slog and get runs but were tied down by the bowling. While that may make for good ODI and Test cricket, in a game that lasts just 240 (legit) balls that is good for the bowling side but hardly tactical. The sport sticks in my head for the interview during the game instead of the "action" is the women's FA Cup final, and also they do interviews during the domestic T20 and I thought this was such a fantastic version of T20 that it wouldn't need "fillers"
Anyway, the sooner the ICC wakes up the better. There must be someone out there who can push through more Test nations and a better structure, maybe the current Test nations don't want to miss out playing their old pals, like England might not play the windies so much, but that SELFISHNESS would only stand in the way of progress. How many other global sports involve only 10 nations?!?! Not being on TV doesn't help the cause either, Michael Yawn worrying about job losses for the Ashes going back to terrestrial TV should worry more about the implications of the coaches having noone to coach and the impacts of no cricket available to everyone on the standard of English cricket.
So who reckons this will be :
a three day Test
a four day Test
a five day Test
? Maybe the biggest interest will be how the England bowlers fare, I bet Carberry is kicking himself for not making more runs, he may not get another chance this Test and only one chance next Test..........................
