England Tour Of Bangladesh 2010

Seriously, move on. Bangladesh ended up on the end of a few poor decisions, big whoop, it happens to every side at least once.

Should be more worried about Shakib's negative bowling and captaincy, and the teams reactions after a couple of poor decisions. The cricket they played for most of the 2nd session of the day was abysmal. Letting a player like Bresnan make 74* is just embarrassing, irrespective of whether he should have been out on 5 or not. Letting him cash in against slow full tosses is just not good enough.

It's been a pretty terrible Test match on the whole. Most of the batting has been average at best given the flatness of the deck (bar Tamim and Bell), the captaincy from Cook and Shakib has been diabolical, some of the bowling has been dire and the umpiring has been terrible. Not been a great advert for the game at all, the standard of cricket has been below Test level, and the conditions haven't helped that. Seen 2 horrible Test pitches on this tour, been very disappointing.

this is just getting a little too nasty. Bresnan making 74 isn't any more embarassing than letting a 20 year old bangladeshi fast bowler score his maiden FC 50 at no.10.

We know, Cook's awful captaincy to blame for that.

I agree KP, has been a very poor match in both quality and entertainment as a result of an awful pitch and general poor performance from both teams.

I'd be alot happier when we get our full team back but atleast this tour has given us some depth for backups in the future.

What kind of pitches were you expecting?

Well, at least something conducive to turn as the game goes on. These pitches don't appear to get any worse at all, especially the one in the 1st Test. There'd be zero chance of a result if 2 quality teams were playing on them, worse than those pitches in the West Indies last year. The ICC need to do something about these flat pitches.

Agree with Themer too, Cook's captaincy, which has been equally as poor as Shakib's allowed the Bangladeshi #10 to make a half century. To have sweepers on the leg-side boundary but not have anyone down at the primary scoring area, third man was just idiocy. I am not looking forward to Cook taking over the captaincy full-time, KP did a far better job in his stint, and he was under far more pressure, not only on the field, but off it too.

Yeah, we've got a few back-ups I guess, but nothing to write home about. Bresnan's bowling on the whole has been terrible, just been lucky that he's produced a few jaffers. Our 2 best bowlers have been the 2 that already have a place in the side, Broad and Swann. Not been particularly impressed by Finn, Bresnan or Tredwell, though the first 2 have potential, especially Finn.

I reckon that's a pretty fair assessment.

Something bothers me with this series. It may be seen that England are fielding an under-strength side, but come the summer who else will come back in? Strauss and Anderson. That's it.

Yeah sure, Strauss' captaincy will improve things but we're still too inconsistent for my liking.

The ICC need to do something about these flat pitches.

Won't happen, golden handshake with the boards and TV to make Tests last five days so they maximise gate receipts and viewing - not that quality on offer is ever a consideration. If this weren't England playing I certainly wouldn't be interested.

Too right, if you can't get a batsman out you certainly cut out his main scoring area, or at least make him work harder for the runs. England forget the basics all too often though, that pitching it up means the batsmen drive and that gets them out, instead preferring that little bit short and beating the bat because it is too short.

Two down now, Swann taking out Iqbal who is one of the danger men. We need more from the other bowlers, Broad needs to start looking like an England bowler who can do things, Tredwell, Finn and Bresnan need to chip in or take a controlling hand.

Note on captaincy to Cook - when nothing is happening the onus is on the side on top or chasing victory to make it happen. 16-6-42-0 from Tredwell is 42 runs to Bangladesh for no loss. How has he bowled twice as many overs as Swann yet Swann has taken FIFTEEN (now) wickets in the series?!?!? :doh

If England want to win, perhaps they should sack the captain right now. We need to get 5-6 down by close I reckon, if not more. We won't be wanting to chase much more than 100 at any great rate of scoring required

Well done umpires for screwing Bangladesh over. Reading on cricinfo England shouldn't have made half the runs they did but Bresnan and Prior got really luck and same for Bell.

Happens a bit too often in this part of the world. We aren't even surprised now. Infact, Shakib gunned for the BCB and didn't have anything at all to say to the umpires. Sad that, instead of quality decisions, it's the rubbish ones which are a given these days.

Keep it up, Messrs Hill & Tucker :clap

And I dont remember the last time I saw Mossy this annoyed. Relax pal :D

There's no point sacking a captain that's just standing-in. But Cook is suffering from never having captained a side before. I'm not even sure he's captained at junior level, let alone anytime for his county.

Senior players need to be more involved IMO. Not sure we need worry until we are chasing 200+ on this wicket and against this bowling/captaincy.

I've seen a first, though. I don't believe I've ever seen a cricketer who is paid to play, ever miss a catch as simple as that one Trott put down.

Usually when you see catches like that dropped, the bloke is wearing black trainers, or had his hands in his pockets when the ball was bowled!

Interesting you say that about Broad, as I've thought he's been poor on this trip, and South Africa too. In fact, apart from one innings in the Ashes, I've been disappointed with him for a while.

Don't get me wrong, he's got the talent, I just wish he'd not bowl so much short stuff. He needs to build up his upper body strength and then he'd gain a yard or two of pace, then he'd be dangerous.

Bresnan has impressed me. I really didn't think he would, but he has. He's still a county bowler at best, and possibly suited more to ODI. Not sure we can properly judge Finn on these pitches and I've never really liked 2 off-spinners in the same team. I like some variation.

Add Anderson and Onions back into this side and the attack looks much better, but who else is there? Plunkett? Shahzad?

I forsee a 3-2, 4-1 Ashes victory for Australia.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::facepalm:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm:(:(:mad::mad::mad::mad: That would have hit the stumps, that is out. GRRRRR. These umpires are so biased against England.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Oh, and wiljoy, shut it. Cheers.

why is it that once again a sub-continental pitch is coming under scrutiny for high scoring, yet the australia v new zealand match which actually had more runs per wicket did not?
