England tour of India (5 Tests)

Some of the jokes in here are funny. Great day for both the teams. England will be happy thanks to Stokes on scoring 240 although that is atleast 50-60 runs short than they would have liked.

India already at 119 and playing Yashball is amazing. If England lose this, its only them to blame and not the pitch. Even if it was a turner, a JAMES FREAKING ANDERSON would have bowled a tighter line and not let India go this far. Poor team management and became too over zealous.

Yash needs to keep scoring and Gill needs to do what he is doing, protect his wicket and play his shots on merit. They both can easily take India to the first inning total.

I also have no idea what else Sarfaraz Khan needs to do (apart from his fitness from what I read), to get a chance in this XI.

My brother in Christ, it was his first ever SENA tour.
Yeah people already branding him and Abdullah Shafique as Asian bullies after their first SENA tours :laughter:

Root got out sweeping similar to his dismissals in 2020.

Even Duckett got dismissed in a similar fashion vs Ashwin just like he used to get out in the 2016 tour.

Brilliant counter attacking cricket by Jaiswal. In the driver's seat for now. My hope is that we don't squander away this advantage and get bowled out for 280-ish.

Anderson's exclusion may raise "What If" questions. If I'm remembering correctly, he has a good record in India.

If not for Stokes, England might have already lost the Test by now but there's still hope. No VK means a big gap in the middle order and Rohit is already gone.

I am actually happy there is no VK. Helps us figure out how things will be once he retires.

He had two holes in his very impressive record previously that I may have talked about here; him preferring to bat at five or below in domestic cricket and his lack of run output for India A compared to his domestic returns.

He’s rectified both of them over the last few months so he will most likely play a test or two in the next 12-18 months or there will be a clear reason provided as to why he hasn’t been picked. They can’t really use the fitness excuse anymore.

I also think too much is made of Jimmy’s exclusion over the last couple of days. This isn’t the same bloke that toured here last time and won them a test with his brilliant spell of reverse swing in Chennai, this version of Jimmy looked like a pale imitation in the Ashes and was perhaps the weakest pacer in that series for England alongside Robinson. Speaking of which…. I’d say Robinson is the bigger miss here even if that feels a bit too much of a captain hindsight type of judgement. His general demeanour and his past controversies do tend to affect judgement of his bowling abilities which I think are very underrated.

Even though if he is not the same, going in with 4 bowlers is not the right approach. This Indian side has a problem against Fast Bowling. Should have played atleast two seamers. Ben Stokes aint bowling and so does roothalitharn who seems like retired.

Matter of time. Expect this to be the last series for VK and RS. In all honesty, they shouldn't continue playing the format. Sarfaraz will break in post this series for sure.

Rootlitharan is here.
