England tour of Pakistan 2024

If not for England's bazball style play, this was dying a match. Now its a slow death. Horrible advertisement of test cricket. Its 2024 and some pitches are set for 2000's where its flat highway pitches.

Joe Root is the greatest of current generation and its not even close. His consistency, the way he bats, there is nothing you can hate about that guy! Sorry for Pakistani fans who will never get to watch good test cricket and eventually the younger will never get into test cricket due to how things go about.

Oof. Really hope there’s some pitch deterioration. The rate England are scoring is impressive given the pitch is slow and the outfield lush

Congratulations Pakistan you've made test cricket boring
It all depends on how it plays out. England, you'd expect, will look to push a result. Maybe a declaration by lunch tomorrow, hope to bowl Pakistan out in 90 overs which gives them a chance of a chase. Really depends how they pitch develops over the next two days. Could be that Pakistan can bat time out of the match rather than dangle a carrot like 300 from 50-60 overs on the final day.

Smith, Woakes, Atkinson to come. If Harry Brook lingers around for 60 odd overs, England should be aiming to post a lead in excess of 300 from here on. I wouldn't have doubted that had Stokes been in the side.

With England 300 ahead, the game will fold up on the final day, perhaps before tea.

You think we're going to score 850? Even I'm not that high on Bazball. :lol

On this pitch, can there be enough time for a result? You’d think the only way is scoreboard pressure and everyone round the bat… so though I agree 850 seems far fetched, what else are they supposed to aim for?

The way they are going, 850 is gettable. It is only 200 odd runs. I'd even go the extent of saying that England might try for the highest ever Test score, if the aim is to bat out 90% of the day.

Just a few overs ago, seemed that Root was stuck in 240s with Brook in the 190s. I sent out a couple of work emails and saw they eclipsed those scores very quickly.
