Our 1st innings score was 574-5 declared btw. Warne 3-146 and McGrath 2-130 were the only wicket takers.
With the arduous task of taking 20 wickets without the injured Flintoff and thus only having a 4 man attack we began the innings searching for wickets. Hoggard took some early wickets as did Plunkett. Watson (107) and Gilchrist (70) put on over 100 runs to frustrate me. We ended bowling them out for 388 with Lee making 38 to avoid the follow on. Hoggard 4-76 was the pick of the bowlers, Plunkett 3-85 and Harmison with 2 and Monty with a solitary wickets. Jaques also chipped in with 88 for Australia.
We came out to bat wanting to set around 400 for Australia to win. Cook was the mainstay of the innings with 93, Plunkett 39, Tres and Strauss chipped in with 33 and 27 at the top of the order respectively to get us of to a good start. We declared on 254-7 with Warne taking 4-90.
We took an early wicket after about 50 runs, that wicket was of Hussey (chasing 430 for the win), Ponting came in and made 77 before getting caught off of the bowling of Plunkett, Liam's only wicket of the innings. Langer made 81 to frustrate me trying to get them all out before the end of the day. With the 2nd new ball we grabbed a wicket with Hoggard and Harmison grabbing one each. With both those bowlers low on energy I turned to Panesar with a hard, new ball. He took 3 wickets at the end of the innings to help us scrape home by 92 runs with only 13 minutes of the 5th day left!
Panesar 4-66, Harmison 3-80 and Hoggard 3-111 were the main wicket takers.

We have a friendly vs Victoria before the 3rd test. I shall hopefully chose on Flintoffs replacement in that game. I'll probably rest some of the bowlers and the batsman.
