England Win Npower Trophy!

England have won the Npower trophy after beating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the 2nd test thus going 2-0 up in the 3 match series.Trescothick and Hussain saw England home in the morning session.I really wanted to get on with the ODI series so with the series already wrapped up I simulated the last match and England won by 7 wickets.

Hello and welcome to Trent Bridge for the first Natwest tri series match between England and Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka arrive here after getting throught to the Sharjarh Cup final,only to get bowled out by Pakistan for 78 and thus loosing by 217 runs.

England come into the ODI's after loosing a 5 match series against New Zealand 3-2.

Sri Lanka then won the toss and a great pitch,but it was very overcast.They chose to bat first.Lets see what happened.

Sri Lanka smash there way to a low total

Sri Lanka batted like their innings was only 20 overs long.They smashed and smashed but lost too many wickets to make a competetive total,all out for 157 off 23 overs.Sri Lanka were going well at 92-2,but there were 3 classic Cricket 04 runout and they were just going for too many slogs.M.Atapattu made 49 off just 27 before he was out,braking a 3 rd wicket partnership of 57.Arnold had a blast at the end to try and salvage a good score,making 43* off 36.But it looks like this total will be too short to defend on a good pitch.

England win the first natwest match by 9 wickets and take 4 points toward the table.England were never troubled on their way to the total after 25 overs.N.Knight was the only man to get out,getting 41 off 42.Trescothick played a controled innings for 55 off 69 and Hussain smashed his way to 54 off 49.U.Chandana got th only wicket for Sri Lanka.

Welcome back for the 1st innings of the 4th ODI between England and Sri Lanka at Headingley.England won the toss on a great pitch and conditions and of corse chose to bat.Lets see what happened.

England post average total!

England's innings didnt start very well when Trescothick was trapped LBW for 5 and Irani edged to slip for 1 with just 14 on the board.But Flintoff came in and put on a 108 run partnership with Knight.England were 46-2 off 10 oevers.Knight reached 50 from 55.England 101-2 of 20 overs.Knight was then caught on the boundry for 66 off 78 balls.Then Hussain was runout by Flintoff who had already reached 50.England 176-4 off 40 evers.Thorpe came in and hit 25 off 24 before he was cleaned up by Fernando.Collingwood came in and him and Freddie tried to get up to around 270.Sadly Flintoff didnt get to 3 figures,caught for 91 off 127 balls,his best innings in ODIs.England eventually got to 252-9.Zoysa was the pick of the bowlers with 3-50.This match seems to be in the balance as India made 277 against England last time out.Come back tomorrow and see what happens.
