Story England's Internationals - England v WI - England win series 2-0

I can sense a Windies collapse here :p This pair has to stay like rock in order to rescue ;)

Chanderpaul and Ramdin play well as Lunch is called

The wicket of Ramnresh Sarwan seemed to spark an attacking feature in Shivnarine Chanderpaul's batting to emerge. He immediately started hitting the ball to the cover boundary with ease and grace. His partner Ramdin also joined in and despite the best efforts of Flintoff, Broad, Panesar and Anderson, they kept on going. Then at 1 o'clock the umpires decided it was time to fill their stomachs and so they called lunch, with the West Indies on 172/4 after 63 overs. Chanderpaul 1 away from his half century and Ramdin on 23 not out.

If you're talking about on the scorecard next to run out, EA dont have the person who ran the batsman out in the scorecard.

Chanderpaul gets 50, but Anderson gets wicket!

In the first over after lunch, bowled by Monty Panesar, Shivnarine Chanderpaul guided a ball down to the third man boundary to bring up a well-deserved 50. He battled hard for the milestone, especially in the first half of his innings as he really grafted. He hit 7 50's in the milestone. However in the first ball of the next over, bowled by James Anderson, Denesh Ramdin mis-timed a cover drive straight to Steve Harmison who was waiting to take the catch at short cover. Anderson was estatic! Ramdin departed for 23 from 42 deliveries. This left the West Indies in a spot of bother at 179/5, with the tail exposed as Dave Mohammed arrived at the crease. Despite bowling wonderfully well at Trent Bridge, Mohammed did not bowl in the first innings at Lords.

Chanderpaul goes on the attack!

Shivnarine Chanderpaul, full of confidence after reaching his 50, decided to attack Monty Panesar. He managed it and hit a glorious strike over long-on for 6, to move his own personal score on to 59. He was still left with the job of batting with the tail, while Dave Mohammed hit a boundary of his own, hitting James Anderson through square-cover for 4.

Jimmy gets his 2nd!

Anderson decided to go around the wicket to Dave Mohammed. The first ball of doing this, he forced an edged from the bat of Mohammed who was trying to play a square drive. Chris Read took an easy catch behind the stumps and Anderson ran off in delight. Mohammed departed after making 4 from 15 balls. The wicket left the West Indies on 189/6, trailing still by 86 runs and brought Ian Bradshaw to the crease.

May be, Windies can just close in the total of 274... But so far, Windies performance with the bat has been disappointing! All hopes on this Chanderpaul now.... Com'on Windies :(

Broad gets first test wicket!

Stuart Broad got his first test wicket, that of Ian Bradshaw at Lords on Day 2. He pitched the ball up and just outside off stump. Bradshaw went fishing and edged straight to Alastair Cook who took a good catch at first slip. Broad was delighted to get underway in test cricket and hoped it was the start of better things to come. Bradshaw departed for 2 from 10 balls. The West Indies were left on 205/7 with the new man in, Corey Collymore.

Chanderpaul goes after brilliant innings

Following the dismissal of Ian Bradshaw and being joined at the crease by Corey Collymore, Shivnarine Chanderpaul hit 2 boundaries. Firstly he hit Panesar for four over mid-on and then played a lovely square cut to the same bowler. However, disaster struck next ball, as he tried to play a straight drive but could only manage to hit it straight to Monty Panesar who took a good catch off his own bowling. Chanderpaul received a massive round of applause from the Lord's crowd at his innings which was widely appreciated by Brian Lara. He departed the crease for 80 from 174 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and 1 six. The wicket brought Jerome Taylor to the crease and left the West Indies on 226/8.

Collymore is dismissed after painfully slow innings

Just as tea was approaching, Corey Collymore was dismissed by Steve Harmison. He went for a painfully slow 1 from 41 deliveries. He had been troubled by movement from both Harmison and Flintoff and finally succumbed as he edged a Harmison delivery behind to Chris Read who took his 2nd catch of the innings. Fidel Edwards is the West Indies last man in with them on 237-9.

Flintoff wraps up the innings

Just before tea on Day 2 at Lords, Andrew Flintoff wrapped up the West Indian innings after making Fidel Edwards edge behind to Chris Read for just 1 from 2 balls. The West Indies were all out for 239, giving England a lead of 39 runs. The timing of the end of the innings meant that England had a nervy 2 overs to bat before the Tea break.

Tea is called after 2 England overs

Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss came out to bat for 2 overs with the unenviable task of staying at the crease until tea. Alastair Cook decided to come out and play a bit and hooked Jerome Taylor for four, in the first over of the innings. Cook and Strauss managed not to lose their wickets before the umpires called Lunch with Cook being on 7 from 7 deliveries and Strauss being on 4 from 5 deliveries. England were 11/0.

England 11/0 (2 Overs) (Lead by 56 Runs)

Cook 7 (7)
Strauss 4 (5)

No-brain run out after good start

With a lead already in the bag, Cook and Strauss came out after Tea to make the lead bigger, and quickly. They reached their 50 partnership inside 10 overs and looked good. However with the score on 61, Cook, the in-form batsman hit a nice-looking cover drive, it should have been clear that 2 was not possible, but Strauss thought otherwise. He paid for this with his wicket and wasn't even in the frame as Denesh Ramdin took the bails off, leaving the crease for 21 from 33 balls. The wicket left England on 62/1, still well placed with a lead of 97 runs, and captain Michael Vaughan at the crease.

2nd idiotic run out costs Cook his wicket

Just a couple of overs after Strauss had been run out, his opening partner fell down the same trap. He hit a crisp square cut off the bowling of Ian Bradshaw and timed it sweetly. However, he could only maange to hit it straight to the fielder at point. Cook ran as soon as he hit it, however by the time he realised his mistake the ball was whistling towards the stumps. It was a direct hit and easy for th umpire to give out. It was the 1st time in the series that Cook hadn't got to 50 and his 28 came from 50 balls, with 2 fours. The wicket brought dangerman Kevin Pietersen to the crease.

England suffer collapse

The over after Alastair Cook's dismissal, England lost another wicket, as they went from a position of luxury on 61/0, to a position of slight discomfort on 75/3. Michael Vaughan was the man to go for 7, continuing his poor run of form. He left a ball from Jerome Taylor and it hit his off stump. It was a tame dismissal by the captain who looked to the heavens, mightily annoyed with himself. The wicket brought Ian Bell to the crease with England having a lead of 110 runs.

Shocking stuff from England. 3 good players going out cheaply there. They need a good innings from Pietersen, hope he can produce it.
Nice Pres, keep up the good work :happy
