Story England's Internationals - England v WI - England win series 2-0

Windies are still in the backfoot! Unless they restrict below 200 this inning, Windies are in danger. Com'on Lara.. its time to do trick in field as well as with bat! ;)

Brilliant stuff as always! :clap

Attacking partnership boosts England

With Kevin Pietersen at the crease, England were always likely to keep the run rate high, and they managed it. He hit a six over mid-wicket, then square cut for four before straight driving for four. He moved his way onto 40 from 29 balls. His partner Ian Bell, also went at over a run ball, hitting a lovely pull stroke to move onto 23 from 19 deliveries, that was his 2nd boundary. The pair had lead England to a 172 run lead, with England being on 137/3.

Pietersen reaches 50

Kevin Pietersen reached his first 50 of the summer as the end of play was approaching on the 2nd day at Lords. When he was on 41, he decided to go for a six with the field packed in. He managed to do this and the ball ended up straight down the ground into the Lords Pavilion. Then he reached his 50, with a clip to fine leg. The Lords crowd applauded an attacking innings, with his 50 coming off 36 deliveries.

Bell goes just before Stumps

In the over after his partner got to 50, Ian Bell carelessly gave his wicket away for 33. He tried to leg glance an Ian Bradshaw delivery but could only manage to deflect it straight to Jerome Taylor at square leg. England's score after the wicket fell was 157/4 and Andrew Flintoff was the new man at the crease.

Stumps are called at the end of day 2

After Ian Bell's dismissal there was 2 overs to go before the end of play. In these overs Kevin Pietersen was able to hit 2 lofted fours through the off-side and Andrew Flintoff was able to clip a ball off his pads all the way to the boundary for four. All of the bowlers emplyed by Brian Lara were relatively expensive. England finished the day, handily placed on 176/4, with a lead of 211, looking to go 2-0 up in the series before heading to Old Trafford.

I wonder if KP can do... why is Lara failing to do.. Phil, something wrong somewhere :p

KP going nicely here, its a shame you lost Ian Bell right before stumps tho

England building a good lead here. Could see some fireworks with Flintoff and Pietersen in.

KP going along nicely and this will be a crucial partnership for England . Awesome presentation mate keepi it up :cheers

Pietersen and Flintoff stretch England's lead

Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff decided that the best way to build a bigger lead for England was to run 2's and 3's. They did this, with their 56 partnership coming up very quickly. Pietersen moved on to 76* from 64 balls, looking for his first hundred of the series. While, Flintoff was looking to keep his good form going on 29* from 25 deliveries.

KP goes 15 short of a well deserved hundred

Kevin Pietersen departed the crease for 85 runs, just 15 short of the first hundred in the series. He batted superbly, making his runs off 77 balls, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes. He was dismissed by Fidel Edwards as he could only edge behind when attempting a straight drive. The whole of Lords stood up and appreciated a fantastic innings, and the West Indian fielders stood up in complete relief that the KP show didn't go on any longer. England were 235/5 with wicket keeper Chris Read new at the crease.

Windies need another 5 wickets within 50 runs to stay safe.. Com'on Windies..still chance there :)

Read needs to stick with Flintoff. If West Indies get a wicket now England could be bundled out for less than 300.

Windies need the KP wicket soon othere wise huge runs are coming on board :p

Flintoff reaches 50

Andrew Flintoff reached a 3rd 50 of the series, with this one coming off just 50 balls, including 4 fours at Lords. It was a vital innings and his partnership with Pietersen helped England get into a position of strong dominance. After reachng the 50, he needed to stay at the crease and build another partnership with Chris Read.

Flintoff gets out after good innings

Andrew Flintoff got out for 65 on Day 3 at Lords just prior to Lunch. After he reached his 50, he took on the short ball and hooked it over the fine leg fence for a maximum. However just an over or two later, he tried to pull a Fidel Edwards but completed mistimed it to Jerome Taylor at square leg. Flintoff departed for 65 from 73 balls with four 4's and one 6. The score at the fall of wicket was 280/6, with a lead of 315 runs and Stuart Broad the new man at the crease.

Read walks without score moving on

Without the score moving on after Flintoff's dismissal, Read edged a Jerome Taylor behind to Denesh Ramdin for 20, as in the space of a couple of minutes, the score form 280/5, to 280/7. Steve Harmison was the new man in, batting at 9.

Taylor gets 2 in 2

Steve Harmison was dismissed off the first ball he faced, the tail ender tried to play an ill-edged cut shot and could only top edge to Ramdin. A golden duck then as he walked back to the dressing room. England were in slight trouble at 280/8, needing Stuart Broad and co to get them up to a lead of 340. Monty Panesar was the new man at the crease.
