Last wicket partnership helps give Windies tough target
Monty Panesar and Jimmy Anderson shared a 35 10th wicket partnership after lunch on Day 3, to move England's total onto 318 all out and give the West Indies a run target of 354 runs, a similar one of which they narrowly failed to get in the 1st Test at Trent Bridge. Panesar's and Anderson's partnership was ended when Anderson edged Corey Collymore to Jerome Taylor at 2nd slip for 21 from 23, while Panesar was unbeaten on 14 not out. However, Gayle played down Picadilly and the ball came down Bakerloo and cleaned him up. Gayle went for 10 from 12 and Brian Lara is the new man at the crease.
Lara gets run out for the 2nd time in the match!
Captain Brian Lara was fuming at being run out for the 2nd time in the match at Lords. His partner Darren Ganga, played a back foot cover drive, only one was realistically available, but Ganga decided he wanted 2. The man fielding was Paul Collingwood and he threw the ball to Broad who whipped the bails out. Lara went back to the pavilion having scored just 4 from 5 balls.

After the two early wickets for England, the two West Indian batsmen Darren Ganga and Shivnarine Chanderpaul built a promising partnership. Ganga after his snail like start, speeded up with some nice cover-drives and one big cover drive six off the bowling of Jimmy Anderson. However, Monty Panesar struck in his first over. As Ganga tried to play on the legside, he was bowled through the gate for 30 from 68 deliveries. The score was 75/3 with the West Indies needing 278 more runs to win and Ramnaresh Sarwan at the crease.
