Story England's Internationals - England v WI - England win series 2-0

129 in 17 overs, ouch. Thats over 7 an over, pretty poor, Mohammed is performing better in my story. Good start from England, would like to see a double hundred from Vaughany. Nice pres.

Vaughan gets 150

Michael Vaughan reached 150 at Old Trafford on Day 1 of the third npower Test between England and the West Indies. After Tea, the scoring rate had slowed down, however, Vaughan still managed to reach his 150 in 186 balls and it included 16 fours and 4 sixes. His partner at the other end, Kevin Pietersen was approaching 50.

Pietersen reaches superb 50

Kevin Pietersen got to his second 50 of the series at Old Trafford as he brought up his 50 in 62 balls. He hit 9 fours in a scintilating innings which kept England firmly in the driving seat. They were on 369/2, with the third wicket partnership past 100.

Vaughan finally is dismissed

Michael Vaughan's classic innings came to an end for 152, after Dwayne Bravo got through his defences with a yorker. It was a marvellous innings from the England captain and showed his skill in his first test series since 2005. He hit 16 fours and 2 sixes, much to the delight of the crowd at the home of cricket. England were then on 376/3, with Paul Collingwood at the crease for his first innings of the series.

400 on the board for England!

England raised the 400 with Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood at the crease on Day 1 at Old Trafford. There had been 3 major contributions so far to the commanding batting performance, those were from Alastair Cook who made 127, Michael Vaughan who made 152 and Kevin Pietersen who was unbeaten on 71.

Pietersen goes without getting century

For his second innings in a row, Kevin Pietersen fell in the 80's without getting a hundred. This time he got 80 after his effort at Lords where he got 85. His innings came off 94 balls and consisted of 11 fours and 2 sixes. The ball previous to his dismissal he hooked for 6, however Jerome Taylor got his revenge when he clean bowled Pietersen as the England batsman tried to play onto the leg side. England were 419/4, with Andrew Flintoff at the crease.

End of Day 1

England ended a brilliant day 1 in a position of total control at Old Trafford in the third npower Test. At stumps they were on 451/4 with Paul Collingwood on not out on 34 from 48 balls and Andrew Flintoff on not out on 11 from 24 balls as they consolidated the excellent work done previously from Alastair Cook, Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen. Michael Vaughan was the star of the show with his first century since he got one against the Australians at the same ground, two years ago. Fidel Edwards, Jerome Taylor and Dwayne Bravo were the wicket takers for the West Indies, with Fidel Edwards getting 2 wickets. Dave Mohammed had an awful day, being very expensive and getting no wickets. England will look to bat on tomorrow morning before perhaps declaring at lunch if possible.

End of Day 1

England 451/4 (84 Overs)

Collingwood 34 (48)
Flintoff 11 (24)

Bravo's yorkers are always handy getting rid of dangerman in this match.. But still, England are in comfortable... Wait.. they will be comfortable till Lara comes up with a 400 :p

Overall, Day1 belonged to England fully.... Great work Phil :clap

Fantastic knock from Vaughany, great days batting by the lads,KP unlucky to miss out on a 100,we should look to knock over the Windies with ease but I'm expecting big things from Lara

Collingwood reaches 50

On his return to the England test side, Paul Collingwood reached his 4th test 50, at Old Trafford. It came off 73 balls and consisted of 9 fours. England had done well on the 2nd morning not to lose wickets and kept their target of declaring towards the middle of the day intact. Andrew Flintoff at the opposite end to Collingwood was going well and hit off and leg side boundaries.

Collingwood gets out after good innings

Paul Collingwood was dismissed for 51 at Old Trafford trying to score quick runs as he was caught behind trying to play a back foot cover drive. He got out his next ball after getting to 50. It was Fidel Edwards' 3rd wicket of the innings and left England on 506/5 with Chris Read new at the crease.

Flintoff blasts to 50

Andrew Flintoff's play on the 2nd morning was exhilarating as England looked to pile on the runs quickly. He reached 50 on his home ground off just 49 balls and hit 10 fours and 1 six.

England 511/5 (93 Overs)

Flintoff 52 (51)
Read 1 (1)

Except Edwards, other bowlers are lazy :p Windies are loosing control over by over....

Read gets out after exciting cameo innings

Chris Read made an entertaining 35 from 24 deliveries as England look to push on towards a mid-day declaration at Old Trafford. He was bowled by Dwayne Bravo, trying to square drive, having hit 3 fours and 1 six. The innings certainly helped England keep a high run rate and kept Andrew Flintoff company, he was motoring at the other end. At the fall of the 6th wicket, England were 565/6, with Stuart Broad the new man at the crease.

Flintoff is dismissed after brilliant innings

Andrew Flintoff was caught behind after a fantastic innings of 77 from 63 balls. He hit 13 fours and 3 sixes before edging a Fidel Edwards delivery to keeper Denesh Ramdin behind the stumps. The declaration still had not come from Michael Vaughan and England were 580/7, with Matthew Hoggard new at the crease.

England declare on 601/7

Michael Vaughan decided to declare after seeing his side reach 600 for the loss of just 7 wickets at Old Trafford. It had been a fantastic batting effort from England's batsmen, with 2 centuries and 3 half centuries. Michael Vaughan was the star batsman with a magnificent 151. While for the West Indies the stand out bowler was Fidel Edwards who despite being expensive, took 4-99. West Indies would have to face a tricky 25 minute period before Lunch on Day 2.

England 601/7 Dec.

No updates till Wednesday I'm afraid guys as I'm going away. Ciao.

Amazing Edwards :p Its time for Lara now to go and get a 400 ;) Lets see how Windies responds to this.
