Story England's Internationals - England v WI - England win series 2-0

Well for West Indies sakes, lets hope it rains! Because it looks really cloudy in the background

England with a huge score . Now they should get early wickets and then keep WI under pressure for a follow on

Gayle goes on the stroke of lunch

Chris Gayle departed for 4 off 13 balls at Old Trafford, after being dismissed by Steve Harmison. The big Geordie pitched the ball up and swung it, then the West Indian opener chipped the ball straight to Stuart Broad at mid-on. The West Indies were left on 15/1, with Daren Ganga attacking at the other end and Brian Lara new at the crease.

Lunch is called on Day 2

The Umpires called Lunch on Day 2 at Old Trafford, after the West Indies had to come out and bat for a tricky 25 minute period. In this time, they reached 16/1, with Chris Gayle getting out and Daren Ganga hitting a series of boundaries. Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard bowled 3 overs each with Harmison getting the breakthrough.

Day 2 - Lunch

England 601/7

West Indies 16/1

Ganga 10 (19)
Lara 0 (4)

West Indies are not playing very well, handy wicket for England just before lunch.

Nice start from Windies :( I guess, Lara is also soon going to throw away his wicket for nothing :p Lets see!

Btw, congrads Phil for winning SOTM :hpraise :clap

Rain frustrates England!

With the West Indies looking for inspiration to avoid defeat in the third test in Manchester, they were helped by typical Manchester weather. At 1:50PM, with Daren Ganga and Brian Lara at the crease on 12 and 8 respectively, the West Indies were on 27/1. Before the rain delay, Brian Lara looked in classic touch, hitting two classy cover drives. England hoped that the rain would pass over quickly.

Play Abandoned for the day

As the rain carried on in Manchester, the hopes of getting more play on Day 2 were getting more remote. Eventually, at 6:08PM, the umpires called abandoned play on what was a pretty frustrating last half of the day for England. With three days of the test left to come, England were still in a very strong position, barring anymore prolonged rain delays.

End of Day 2

England 601/7

West Indies 27/1 (7 Overs) (Trail by 574 Runs)

Ganga 12 (25)
Lara 8 (7)
