David Gower:Hello and welcome to the 2nd match of Group A of the Champions Trophy 2006, between Australia and West Indies the two teams who were in commanding position in DFL cup and Australia won the DFL cup but Aussies also lost against West Indies in the same series .Aussies are the world champions and West Indies are the defending champions of the Champions Trophy and an interesting point to be noticed is that Aussies have never won the Champions Trophy so that make it tougher for Australia here and West Indies have got a good chance to win .Aussies are the best in the world when it comes to cricket and each and every player gives more than 100% in the field and thats the reason for their success. The only thing they have not achieved yet is the Champions Trophy and this time they will want to win the Champions Trophy and they will surely work hard for that . On the other hand West Indies have played the best cricketing from the past few months their batting is strong and their bowling is also improved a lot .Lets take a look at the match conditions and toss for todays match.

Match Conditions​

M.Atherton :The conditions are excellent for cricket fast outfield and good pitch and will be a high run scoring game. The team winning the toss will surely bat first and wil try to post a huge total on the board and put the opposition straight away on the backfoot.

The Toss​

Ian Botham :West Indies have won the toss and they have elected to bat first . Good toss to win and certainly West Indies will try to score maximum runs in their 50 overs and that will put lots of pressure on Australia and now West Indies have a chance to win this one but Australia are the toghest to beat .Lets see who win this one

West Indies Innings
After winning the toss West Indies started to bat like champions .Within no time they got Australia on the bakfoot and got Ponting to wear his thinking cap . It was all due to the magic of Chris Gayle with which West Indies started off with a zooming pace . Gayle was hitting the ball very hard and into the gaps as well . Its his natural style of batting and its quite effective as well. S.Chanderpaul was batting quitely at the other end and was waiting for bad balls to put it on the other side of the boundary line . Chris gayle got a quick 50 and was looking quite dangerous but then the experience did the trick for Australia . G.McGrath bowled a good outswinger delivery on the offstump to Gayle which got Gayle in two minds whether to leave the ball or to play it and then he went for the drive and wa only successful to get the edge . Gayle departed for well made 50 runs.

But that was not over for West Indies . R.Sarwan joined S.Chanderpaul in the middle and this pair has played some wonderful cricket over the years and are the succesful pair in West Indies success over the years. Sarwan was there and he gave a good support to Chanderpaul and Chanderpaul was playing well and was all set for a big innings. He was very watchful in his innings and was surely not going to throw his wicket now. Chanderpaul scored his good 50 and was batting nicely while Sarwan was caught off the bowling of Hogg .But then West Indies looked to be in bit of bother as S.Watson struck twice . first to send Chanderpaul back to the pavillion. Chanderpaul scored a brilliant 70 in 87 balls and certainly West Indies were in drivers seat. But S.Watson got a huge wicket as Lara was bowled for just 8 runs .Now Aussies were commanding and West Indies were under pressure and Bravo was also back to the pavillion within no time. But at the end of the innings M.Samuels who was in good tough in the last match scored at a faster rate and the extra batsman which West Indies were playing in this match counted as W.Hinds scored valuable runs and it helped West Indies to score 284 in 50 overs and were certainly in commanding position. S.Watson picked up 3 wickets in his 10 overs but was very expensive as he was smashed for runs in the end.

Australia InningsAustralia got a perfect start to their innings with Gilchrist and Watson opening the innings and then getting a good opening partnership which Aussies needed to stay in the match . The pitch was suitable for batting and West Indies bowlers didnt seem to trouble Aussie openers anytime. After a good 80 runs partnership for the 1st wicket and at a good run rate . the Gilchrist was dismissed off the bowling of Samuels and now a Aussie captain Ricky Ponting was out their in the middle . He also got a start and was supporting Watson who got to his 50 and it was wise decision for Watson to open the innings. Aussies were always above the required run rate and Aussie got two good partnership which was needed for thenm to win .Watson and Martyn got good 50 run partnership before Watson was bolwed for his well made 83 runs. The in the end Hussey and Martyn got a winning partnership for Aussies with Hussey scoring 40 runs and Martyn getting his half century . Aussie won with ease in the end with 2 overs to spare .
Watson showed that he can bat in difficult conditions as well and helped Australia to pull out a famous win and thier 1st victory of this Champions Trophy.

Man of the match was not hard to pick this time as it went to S Watson for his good allround performance with bat and ball picking up 3 wickets and scoring 83 runs .

yes i use photoshop for everything in this story but when the animation part comes then i switch on to Animation shop as i find it easy than Imageready.
