David Gower:Hello and welcome to the final Group A's match of the Champions Trophy 2006, between India and Australia .The crowd here is extremely noisy as the home team is playing and when India play at home the atmosphere for cricket is extremly electric. India are already through to the semifinals but Australia have to win the match in order to go through the semifinals. If Australia will lose this match then the net run rate of England and Australia will be compared in order to get the team for the semis. Lets take a look at the match conditions and toss for todays match.
Match Conditions
M.Atherton :This track is good for batting and we can see a run scoring game today . Bowlers will have to keep a good length on this wicket but still this a run feast.
The Toss
Ian Botham :Australia have won the toss and they decided to bowl first .It a good decision and now Australia will try to get first few Indian wickets in the first 15 overs.
Indian Innings
If India want to win this match then all they need is a really good start from Sehwag and Tendulkar. Both the batsmen started their innings nicely and were positive in their stroke play . Tendulkar was looking like the young Tendulkar who is in tremendous form and now he is playing wonderful strokes and is in full flow. But they were batting against a high quality Australian bowling attack . Brett Lee provided the 1st breakthrough for the Aussies as Sehwag was bolwed by a brilliant quick delivery which thrashed on the middle stumps and Sehwag once again showed lack of footwork . But India made a change in the batting lineup as M.Dhoni was sent up the order after the fall of 1st wicket. That was a good move by the Indians and surely Dhoni was sent to score quickly so that Sachin wont be under pressure and he can play freely. Dhoni started batting aggressively and he was creating problems for the Australian bolwers. Somehow Australians needed his wicket and Sachin was scoring as well from the other end. Hogg was brought in the attack and Dhoni took the charge and smashed a huge six over long-on. He tried to smash him for another six but Hussey took a magnificant catch just inside the boundary ropes . Tendulkar soon reached his half century and he continued his good form . Certainly he is in tremendous form he has scored 1 century and 2 half centuries now in this tournament and is in his top form . But the collapse started for India as wicket felt at regular intervals from the other end and Tendulkar was losing his partners . Batsmen were coming and chipping few runs and were losing their wickets and finally Tendulkar was run out on 86 runs and he was really disappointed as he could have scored another century in this tournament. But he did all the hard work for his 86 runs. But the Indian batting lineup collapsed and they were bowled out for 262 in 46 overs and still 4 overs were left in the innings but still 262 is a defendable total.
Tendulkar's Great Form Continues

Australian Innings
Australia needed 263 to win and certainly Gilchrish needed to fire early but Aussies received a huge blow as Watson was bolwed for 9 runs by a beautiful inswinger from Pathan . Indian did a fantastic job by getting the 1st Australian wicket in 4 overs and now they can attack . But Gilchirist started attacking and showed no mercy towards the bowlers. If it was pitched up he smashed it for huge sixes and if it was bowled short the result was the same. It was raining fours and sixes from Gilly's bat and Indian had no clue with the ball . Captain Rahul Dravid had to think about picking the wickets and so a chance in the bowler was expected. Munaf was brought in the attack and he also went for runs. Each and every bowler went for runs and Gill was on fire and was scoring a a really quicker rate. The game was already taken away from the Indians. Gilly scored his century in quick time but Ponting was dismissed on 46. After scoring his century Gilly continued the assault but Agarkar managed to take his wicket. Gilchrist score 133 runs in 137 balls with 10 boundaries and 7 sixes certainly the best performance in this champions trophy . Finally Australia won easily by 4 wickets and 2.4 overs to spare. And that means that Australia enter the semifinals and England are out of the Champions Trophy
