PCPL Season 2: Outstanding Performer (Division 2)
Second Half - Could England Fight Back?
England gathered momentum after the break and Mourinho opted to make no substitutions. England were attacking and Rooney had a great chance to put England level on 46 minutes however his near post header from Downing's cross bounced off the post and out for goal kick. Eventually England managed an equaliser, with Peter Crouch chesting the ball on the "D" of the area (after a scambled and untidy clearance from the Swiss defence) and powerfully nailing it in the bottom corner on the half-volley. GOAL! England were right back in it.
Just minutes later Crouch was Substituted for Michael Owen.
In the 78th minute, after a great run, Steven Gerrard was brought down by Ludovic Magnin. From the resulting freekick, Beckham hit the side of the wall and then Lampard volleyed it into the bottom corner. GOAL!..........NO! The goal was disallowed for offside and the replays showed that it was a close call and that Lampard maybe should of been given the benefit of the doubt.
Mourinho brought on Shaun Wright-Phillips and Wayne Bridge for the last 10 minutes however the match ended 1-1
England 1-1 Switzerland
Crouch (51) Degan (21)
SO: P.Senderos (45+1)
Team: Robinson, Ferdinand, Terry, A.Cole, Neville, Beckham(Wright- Phillips), Downing(Bridge), Gerrard, Lampard, Crouch(Owen), Rooney
