England's tour of India - 2021

Did Rahul think that he was batting for CSK? :p Why was he so circumspect in that over?

Hope Kishan comes out real good here. I like the idea of opening the batting with him. India went unscathed despite thinning their bowling today. Hope they get it right with the bat.

P.s: Damn Sam Curran!! That first over was painful. Wanted to enjoy it as a CSK fan but seeing the team he was bowling against, I just CANT!! :D

Why India gave only chance to Dhawan? If they wanted to give chance newcomers then why wait for 2nd Match? And what if they get dropped in next match? ( if they drop them it will make no sense at all ) Management is kind a mystery.
India needs to back their players just like England. Hope SKY or IK gets to play next 3 matches.

Not sure whether Who's right or wrong.

Buttler is best Utilized as a top order player in T20s and it worked for him and whatever team he has played.

RR tried Buttler in the middle order/ finisher last year.

They instead Opened with Stokes.

Buttler did scored 328 runs but was nowhere near his destructive best for RR compared to what he did when opened for them in 2018 scoring 595 runs.

Also opened for Sydney Thunder in 2017 and 18 season scoring 600 plus in couple of seasons.
I think it comes down to how do you see a T20. As a short ODI or the last 20 overs of an ODI. I think England see it that as the latter. They will always want Buttler at the crease, unless the top order are going well, with 20-30 overs left in an ODI. So in T20 you want to give him as many balls to face as possible. Buttler potentially facing 60 balls (including 6 overs as a power play) will always be better than Buttler facing 20.

I thought the Buttler as a finisher in T20s was a done and dusted topic given that he doesn't perform well there? It's one thing if you do move him from five/six to the opening spot after he does well finishing games because you want him to face more balls, it is another thing when you do it because his playing style does not suit a middle order role. The numbers back that up too.

In a nutshell, the demands of the roles in ODIs and T20s are vastly different and cannot be compared that easily.

Its so unusual to see Rahul fail back to back in T20s.

My worry is that a lot of these dismissals have a recurring pattern in him struggling with a ball that slightly wobbles or moves. Seems like a misjudgement of the line. Does not bode well for any sort of return to the test side when he has such struggles.

Not looking good this tbh.

A surface bit on the slower side and the Indians so far has been looking to play it on the rise thereby struggling to get any timing whatsoever.

England should fancy their chances this is a big ground.

Lucky to see this series live on TV in Pakistan :clap :)
