England's tour of India - 2021

Look what happens when you use Chahal outside the powerplay. He actually looks useful.
I don’t understand why you would bowl any leggie in the PP. The only spinners bowling in the PP should be bowlers like Imad Wasim or Washington Sundar, who don’t look to turn it, but keep a tight line and length.

@LiveLoveABD why so much rant on almost everything bro?

Just calm a bit and enjoy the sport. Yes sports criticism is pivotal, but not at the cost of peace of mind.

Take it from me bro it doesnt make sense with this guy......better off preaching to a brick wall.

The pitch looks good so far but somehow i feel India gonna come hard batting 2nd, if Kohli or Hardik fires it cold be game over.

Bumrah still looking awful with that action least he is better looking than Murali. Bhumi still a no ball champion?

Also to enter into the discussion about WT20 squads, these are what I'd pick - not what I expect:

England
:eng: :bat: Alex Hales
:eng: :bat: Jonny Bairstow
:eng: :bat: Dawid Malan
:eng: :bat: Eoin Morgan :c:
:eng: :wk: Jos Buttler
:eng: :ar: Ben Stokes
:eng: :ar: David Willey
:eng: :ar: Moeen Ali
:eng: :bwl: Chris Jordan
:eng: :bwl: Mark Wood
:eng: :bwl: Adil Rashid

:eng: :bat: Jason Roy
:eng: :ar: Liam Dawson
:eng: :ar: Sam Curran
:eng: :bwl: Jofra Archer

India
:ind: :bat: Rohit Sharma :c:
:ind: :bat: Lokesh Rahul
:ind: :bat: Virat Kohli
:ind: :bat: Shreyas Iyer
:ind: :wk: Rishabh Pant
:ind: :ar: Hardik Pandya
:ind: :ar: Krunal Pandya
:ind: :ar: Washington Sundar
:ind: :bwl: Thangarasu Natarajan
:ind: :bwl: Jasprit Bumrah
:ind: :bwl: Yuzvendra Chahal

:ind: :bat: Shikhar Dhawan
:ind: :bat: Suryakumar Yadav
:ind: :bwl: Bhuvneshwar Kumar
:ind: :bwl: Kuldeep Yadav

I am less comfortable in my knowledge of all the Indian bench strength, but that should at least demonstrate the roles I'd be looking at

Roy is looking in great touch. India need to get him out

To get Virat Kohli out for a duck ;)

Archer not in the first XI? That's literally insane.

I'd be amazed if he wasn't in a floating role. He's like Buttler for me. Buttler should have the opportunity to face as many balls as possible and Pandya, perhaps not in the same league, but I'd certainly want him coming in with time to make an impact.

Him in a floating role would mean that one of SKY or Shreyas would be redundant. Saini or Tewatia could have played for that sixth bowling option.

I do think Pandya's batting capabilities are vastly underestimated due to how unorthodox his technique is. The commentators were shocked that he could actually establish his position as a pure number six in the Australia series in a country where reliable hard hitters are seldom to be found. I would even play him at five in T20Is, he has that sort of match-winning ability.

I mean I wouldn't play both Yadav and Iyer, depending on how India want to play an argument could be made that neither are needed. India have a perfectly good top 7, when everyone is fit and available.

Rohit
Rahul
Kohli
Iyer
Pant
Pandya
Jadeja

I suppose the number 2 opener and number 4 position is what's up for debate. That's what they're trying around for here.

Honestly I just expect his elbow to fall apart at any given moment though
Followed by Michael Vaughan saying he doesn’t care about cricket or something
He always gets singled out as not caring about Test cricket, you have to just keep wondering why :rolleyes

The openers should be set in stone IMO. Rahul's the top Indian run-scorer in the IPL over the last three seasons while Rohit's the vice-captain and has a good international record to balance out the underwhelming recent IPL history. Dhawan's mainly in the conversation because he has been key for Delhi since his move but he will just be another steady player in an already saturated lineup.

Number four is interesting. Pant plays there for Delhi and has done a tremendous job in three seasons (including having arguably the greatest season by a batsman in 2018) while SKY and Shreyas both are fine players themselves. Ben Jones of CricViz said it best that while Shreyas' knock was extremely good (scored most of his runs versus pacers against whom he has a short ball problem), he was still doing his best number three impression down at five thanks to a batting collapse. The Indian side cannot pick accumulators (even aggressive ones like Shreyas) and expect them to provide dynamic T20 batting everytime against their norm.

This is where SKY could on paper fill a gap. He has middle order experience in domestic cricket having moved himself down the order and added another gear of batting to his game in the middle and death overs during the last IPL. Remains to be seen if he can do a similar job on the international stage though.

Exactly. This is another thing why we aren't successful in limited overs with the ball. The rotation of bowler. This is a crucial aspect of success for teams in this format. This is why MSD was so successful in his initial years.

What can I say, I like David Willey.

Honestly I just expect his elbow to fall apart at any given moment though
I don't think there's a bowler in the world I'd pick ahead of Archer in T20. Bumrah possibly.

Honestly, given his iffy test form, if they had to pick between Ashes and T20 World Cup for Archer I'd go World Cup.

I'd like to see David Willey in the side/squad. How many Currans do you need? But he's only really effective in the powerplay. With a player like Stokes I think you could pick power play specialist. But if Willey doesn't deliver up front he's less likely to come good at the back end.

And on that level of innuendo I'm going to eat a sausage butty.
