England's tour of India - 2021

Alright not being facetious - what is the point in Sam Curran?

Called for him to bowl in the powerplay. It seems like he's been picked to replicate Mo's role of mostly being ineffective, except that he doesn't even get the opportunity to demonstrate it.

Worst batting performance of all time!!

You've still not hit the button on him?

Is that another troll too? Thanks for the head-up. :D

Exactly my thoughts when I was looking at the English bowlers scorecard. Not much use of him if he's going to bowl an over a match, his brother Tom might've been more useful today with his death bowling to cover for Wood's off day.

Even though Kohli have scored 80*, I don't think this is even close to the innings that he has played in his career. He did get the odd boundaries in between but when it came to hitting some big shots he struggled throughout.

This XI is bang on! If only Kohli wants to open more for T20's. What an innings from everyone. SKY doing the most with the opportunities.

You could see that he wasn't fully used to the opening role, tried to play shots that he normally would to rotate strike or pierce the gap for boundaries when he could have gone over the top for those perfectly placed boundaries that Buttler does so well. I repeat again, there is possibly no one better than Kohli to do that particular job and there is no other accumulator who could finish so well. Pair him up with an aggressor at the top (Rohit today did the job) and you suddenly have a player who is arguably one of the best in two of the three phases of the game and the best strike rotator in the middle phase.

Good to see that Hardik bats well when he is promoted too, have always argued that he has been underused as a batsman especially in T20Is. His stance today was telling, seemed to be more ahead in comparison to his usual deep in the crease approach to combat the recent barrage of length balls that have troubled him. Shows an intelligent cricketer in there.

Archer? Overrated? I would like to have some of whatever you're smoking.

But there is a disadvantage here. There are many days when Rohit himself is struggling at the start of an innings so Rohit himself needs an aggressor. Also you could see that Kohli was hitting the ball well in early overs while he started to struggle later on showed that he was tired out as he went through the innings and his energy seemed to be going down. That is why I feel Kohli is better at 3 or 4 playing for India in this format. If he opens then he needs to be the aggressor, that would bring the best out of him.

Reminds me of when I do Cricket Captain saves trying to carry a mediocre all-rounder at number seven or eight because they've got a cool name
