England's tour of India - 2021

KL Rahul still as ODI Keeper as per Cricinfo. I am afraid but the axe is coming. :facepalm
KL Rahul will get an elongated Rope from the management as usual.

The likes of Him ,Sharmas etc. are the some of the elusive ones with sheer luck and are backed more than others.

There is a vast difference in the quality and level between Sky and Shreyas. Also, there's a huge fixation in our country over numbers and therefore, fixed batting numbers rather than fixed batting roles. For you, Ishan Kishan supersedes KL Rahul on the basis of one innings while KL has been smoking attacks for two years in the white ball game. He was "in line" for the job after Rohit and was being groomed for it and now suddenly, on the basis of one bad series he's no good. Pant has made it into this side for you based on test performances? I've been begging for him to be a permanent at 5 for three years almost.

KL Rahul- He has to be told to "bat free." It's a terminology we use which basically means that he's not burdened with building the innings. His role is to attack and if he fails in the process, then the team accepts it. At the moment, he's tentative, hesitant and visibly insecure.

No, for me Ishan Kishan does not supersede KL Rahul. I am talking based on current form. Also not only Kishan, I would on current form prefer Padikal, Shaw over Rahul as well. Rahul's last 5 innings scores look like 14,0,0,1,0. Again, I am only talking T20. I am not going to judge him for 50 over cricket yet.

Again its all pointless debating this here as he is going to be in the squad, he will be playing in the XI and I just hope he regains his form in the IPL since it would benefit us as a team.

Don't fall for this. We have lost a World Cup due to this. Rayudu made it to Indian team in 2018-19 due to his good form and dropped from the team due to his poor form. Vijay Shankar's good form got him a place in the 2019 WC.

I am not falling for anything. I am hoping he hits form. I am not questioning his talent, I am just questioning his form and asking question whether or not someone else should be given an opportunity. KL will have 14 matches in IPL to hit form. Players sitting on bench, should be tried in the final T20.

Not sure why Gill is in the ODI squad when we've got two openers who broke records in the Vijay Hazare Trophy waiting in line.

I don't mind Krunal in the ODI squad too, he has been good in domestic cricket and could work far better as a number six/seven with some overs to play.

I think the selectors and management are putting Gill in that Kohli category. He had a decent time in Australia but couldn't capitalize against England. However, I feel we are all including management, selectors, and fans are kind of certain that he will hit the ground running sooner rather than later based on what we have seen from him so far in his short career.

As you have mentioned, it was definitely harsh on Padikkal and Prithvi Shaw as both had a mammoth Vijay Hazare Trophy. With Prithvi, even though he has started getting the big scores again, which is great for his confidence, I feel keeping him away from the international scene for a while will only be better for him in the long term. Padikkal has been brilliant as well, and I am confident he will get a chance pretty soon if he continues with this amazing form.

Aggressive selection by India to remove Rahul and bring in an extra bowler, but I like the move. I do feel for Rahul but I think he saw this coming as well.

Rahul sitting out should not be a sign of him getting dropped, he ought to treat it as a break. Especially given Kohli is opening and we all know how much he dislikes that position.

You're making the mistake of equating tests with ODIs that our selectors and fans have also done, Gill has been very good in List A cricket too but there have been better players in the mean time. I do agree that Shaw probably could be at risk of going back to square one if he were re-introduced too early and Padikkal also does have some holes in his game.

However I do think they should have been in and around the squad as they do deserve the chance to make an impression and learn from the seniors instead of Gill. It is not likely that either of this trio will play unless Kohli gets his 'Random Team Generator' gun out.

An over of Sam Curran could be interesting here.
