I said it during the Australia series and I say it again now - Pant has made many people eat humble pie, including myself. I still am not going to sing praises of his keeping, which on account of other posters here in this forum, is said to be improving. Even if it didn't, Pant's batting has become so special that he duly gets to learn wicketkeeping on the job and improve on the job. If he can win matches single handedly and turn games single handedly with the bat, well he stays despite whatever quality of keeping he does.

Sundar is an absolute terrific find for India. Can see the guy go up as big as Ashwin is at this moment. If Sundar continues to keep his current fitness level and follow his RCB captain's footsteps, he can maybe even go many steps ahead of Ashwin in all formats. Fingers crossed on him, he can be really big. Today all talk was on Pant which is fair enough, but soon people will start singing praises of Sundar in a big way if he keeps up this work.

That ended up being a good day for India thanks to Pant and Sundar. I am really concerned Rahane's form. I know Kohli has not scored a century since 2019 and this is his leanest point but he deserves to have a lean patch after all his has done batting wise so far. I was hesitant about Rohit but he has been terrific post 1st test match. HE has been the second best batsman for us. Rishabh Pant has been fantastic since his return and I just wish him all the good luck that he keeps playing this way. HE will be so crucial for us in the T20 world cup. Washington Sundar the accidental player who was not even in the squad for the Aussie series has cemented his place so well. I saw the highlights and some of the shots his played was wow! HE could be a like for like replacement for Jadeja in our overseas tours as well. With Axar and Sundar still playing the 89 runs lead can become 120-150 runs. I do not see England winning this until Root and Stokes can play a big role in the batting inning and India fold out (which can happen).

Rahane, Kohli and Gill have disappointed me. Gill has disappointed me more. Ton of potential, technique.

The cream of our batting (Pujara, Kohli and Rahane) in test cricket has been underwhelming in this series. But seriously, two of these guys made king sized contributions in our last epic series win in Australia and Virat Kohli the batsman, is well VIRAT KOHLI!! His flip will come on switched at any moment (I have huge admiration for his batting, despite my issues with his captaincy).

You gotta live with the inconsistency of these guys because they will deliver when it matters most (they did in Australia where it hugely mattered and Kohli in earlier tours).

I think Pant and "George" Washington have torpedoed Australia's chance for the WTC. Impressed by Pants ton.. showed the maturity I had been calling for. He will be a huge asset for India going forward.
It was actually a really lucky innings by Pant. He remains a slogger. The reckless shot after 100 was disappointing - does Pant only play for his century? Team goals out the window. Fortunately, Sundar and Axar have batted much more sensibly.

In a weird way, it seems like a pitch that turns from Day 1 has taken the toss out of the equation. No matter if England win or lose the toss, it does not matter much to them :D

The way this test match has gone after that pink ball thingy (and also the way MCG, SCG and Gabba went after the Adelaide pink ball happened in India's last tour) shows that pink ball tests should either be "all in" or "never in". Touring teams already have it tough. The pink ball test just brutally destroys them. I am sure England have one test in their bag already when India visits them in their summer.

I reckon we all get that you don't like Pant. No need to keep going over old ground.

Not for the first time Pant frustrated Australians :p

I disagree to this. England were brutally affected from the Chennai Test itself. Those selection errors, batting collapses, quality batting from the opposition and difficult conditions everything have contributed to England's failure.

I feel so sorry for Sundar:facepalm:(

Ben Stokes !:mad:mad

I have to agree that Sundar has been a terrific find for India. A player who could turn up and always get some important wickets for his side and very well capable of helping his team while under pressure with the bat. Deserves equal credit to Pant's innings in this match. :yes
