England's tour of India (Nov '16/Feb '17)

I found him quite biased and didn't like his commentary much. He should have been in the box though
I feel he is not at all biased. He is my favourite commentator. He appreciates players genuinely whether he is an Indian player or other. He has a good understanding of game and he is damn witty. Love the way he talks with a smile always.

He was sacked from the commentary team because he praised the opponents more than the Indian players !

He said in the latest interview that he had a bit of scuffle with the broadcaster where they wanted him to be biased but Bhogle refused saying that to praise Indian players they already have a hindi channel and the commentators needed to be unbiased on the english one as the game is watched worldwide when compared to hindi channel.

Yup. I read that article too !

Dont understand how a broadcaster can dictate terms.

Wasnt Bhogle a BCCI employee? BCCI needs to really set a line on what a broadcaster can and cannot do.

They actually do and i don't know who is leading statsports network they are actually digging a big hole for themselves by doing such things.
I used to love watching when Star network was Espnstar and had the likes of Bhogle and Wilkins as Presenters/hosts even the post and pre match analysis was insightful to watch ,now its more about promotion (movies and all....) and money ridden activities (mauka mauka ad).
Even the shows they have the likes of match point and everything are absolute crap filled with mimicry artist and Rjs.(Only good show they have is 'this week special').

Kohli opening in T20's is not a bad idea at all. Unlike ODI's or tests, No.3 is not so sacrosanct in T20. All the top batting positions from 1-5 or 6 are important in T20 and it does not matter where Kohli bats. In fact, its better if he opens because it gives the team the flexibility and space to add other big hitters down the order and also Kohli is of the type who needs a little bit time to open himself up for hitting, and the opening slot gives him the best possible time to do that.

Sachin was not considered an opener until he busted that myth and became our permanent opener in ODI's. Kohli too similarly can become one in T20. Imagine Kohli and Rohit unleashing on the opposition, especially on subcontinental pitches. No score would be impossible and no target easy to defend.

I think that statement was with respect to Tests.
Yes but he shouldn't be doing it because that will demotivate other players and Saha might take his place for granted. There should always be a healthy competition in the team.

If only we get a consistent version of Yusuf Pathan, I feel we can have a good opening combination. I still remember Yusuf opening the batting against Pakistan in his debut match where he smacked Gul over his head for six. Even the bowler applauded his effort. An ultrarare thing in India-Pakistan match when a player appreciates a rival on the field.

Yusuf was a demon slogger but he was horribly exposed in international cricket by short pitch stuffs.

Rightly said. He was such a good batsmen otherwise, and thats the problem. No matter how good he performs at domestic level we know he will be exposed by some aggressive bowling at international level. We need a more consistent version of Yusuf Pathan. Hope we will get a player like that soon.

I feel England may have missed a trick by bowling first. Indian spinners could have a big effect on them in the second half of the game.
