England's tour of India (Nov '16/Feb '17)

Good win for us today especially the bowling of our fast bowlers won us the match tonight.

Now if we are looking at the team for next T20 world cup, I am a big believer of the thinking that your best batsmen should get to face the most devilries in t20 format. That is the reason I like the move of Virat opening the batting. However, I want someone at the other end who will go after bowlers from the 1st ball. This is where I feel the likes of Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal can come in. Rohit Sharma will come back into the line-up straight away once he is fit. To have Raina at number 3 is a great move but he has seriously struggled recently. He needs to get some runs otherwise, I would rather see Pandey at this position. Pandey is a one down player where he has played for KRR he needs to be given a chance at that position especially if Raina is not doing well. Pandey is not a finisher and it is shocking that management wants to make him a finisher by giving him batting at number 5 and 6. If you need a finisher, it has to be Jadhav. I will still stick to my point of Yuvraj that I just don't see him fitting into this line-up. He has arguably been India's greatest match winner but he is not the same player anymore. He often struggles in batting, his bowling is not very impressive and his fielding is not any good as well. I love Dhoni but his batting is clearly deteriorating as well. Bowlers now can hit that outside the off stump yorkers to him which he has struggled to get away with. However, we need to stick with him just because he he has the mental strength to overcome any weakness. Nehra and Mishra are good addition for T20 team but their fielding is an issue. They both are horrible fielders. However, their bowling in this format is good enough to keep them in the line-up. It was good to see Bumrah finally delivering in this England limited over series. He has been absolutely rubbish so far in the ODI series and also the first T20. He turned it around in this game and that is good to see.

We have still some time to go for the T20 world cup and the selectors can persist with some players if they feel like they do need that experiance in the line-up but my line-up would be:

Virat Kohli
Rohit Sharma
Manish Pandey/Suresh Raina
KL Rahul/Rishabh Pant/Mayank Agarwal
MS Dhoni
Kedar Jadhav
Hardik Pandya
Ravi Ashwin
Amit Mishra/Jadeja
Jasprit Bumrah/Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Ashish Nehra/Mohammed Shami

Good win by India. I feel Nehra and Bumrah bowled very well, with the support of Mishra who kept the runs down quite a bit. I don't think Kohli should not open. Sure, he has done very well in the IPL opening, but I feel he is best at #3. He plays very well at 3 and should be in that place when Rohit Sharma comes back into the team. I would rather have Suresh Raina at 4 because he is not very good in that position.

For the next game I'd rather have:

Rishabh Pant
KL Rahul
Kohli
Raina
Yuvraj
MS Dhoni
Pandya
Mishra
Bumrah
Nehra
Chahal (more preferably some other good T20 spinner)

Our batting was quite pathetic. All of the so called T20 specialists, experienced players, and power hitters failed badly. Rahul did a great job by keeping the scoreboard running. He is a huge talent and we should utilize it properly. The wicket was on slower side and Rahul adopted to condition quite well. Hope he continues to perform well. Pandey coming down the order and playing a defensive kind-of knock was good and he supported Rahul well with a solid partnership. On the other hand, Dhoni was running out the non-strikers and was playing a defensive game in the death overseas of T20. Its a shame!

With a immense experienced attitude Nehra bowled was great pleasure to watch. Amit was also looking good while Bumrah was absolutely brilliant in his final overs. The performance of Chahal was disappointing. Hope he will cope up in the next game.

On the other hand, England were in the same situation as India in the final ODI. But the difference was that India had no wickets in hand or experienced batsmen to finish the game while England had the best t20 specialists and experienced batsmen. I feel pity for Eoin Morgan for his statement in post match press meet where he said that poor umpiring led to England's loss. Let us consider it as unfortunate result for Root but what were the other players doing after that? Jos Butler - Best Finisher faced 2 balls, one being a dot ball and another one was his wicket ball. Moeen Ali faced two balls, 1 run off the 1st ball he faced and second ball (last ball) being dot. Chris Jordan scored 1 run off 1 ball.

He has to blame his own team for the loss and not the umpire. India too have faced many such wrong decisions from umpires in the past but haven't complained about it or blamed anyone. It was the last over heroics by Bumrah and we have to appreciate him for that.

Great win by India!
Didn't watch the match yesterday just saw the highlights this morning not sure about how bad the umpiring the umpiring was but India did manage to win at Nagpur.
With the 3rd match being the decider I don't think Rishab Pant will get a game.

Also the way Joe Root was playing he was really struggling espc. against Bumrah and would have got out anyways.

Agree. No doubt it was a wrong decision. Unfortunate, but definitely not game changing.

It was not as if a tail-ender was brought into equation because of the dismissal. They had one batsman, who is suited best for T20 format, on strike and one decent batsman at the non-striker's end.

He also said that the extra 14 runs by Virat after poor decision of umpire for lbw in the second over costed them the game which in fact is ridiculous. Virat took initiate and threw his wicket to the same bowler for his missed lbw chance. :p

Virat's fielding attributes have gone down , after he has became a full-time captain :facepalm

He also said that the extra 14 runs by Virat after poor decision of umpire for lbw

It looked plumb straight hitting the wicket , with the naked eye ( Virat's LBW )

Shamshuddin has inherited the qualities of Dharmasena :D

From a statistical point of view, those 14 runs did make a difference. So he was not wrong on that but at this level he should have accepted and moved on rather than complaining.

It's difficult for Morgan, and it's understandable. Those fourteen runs Kohli scored did make a difference and even leaving that aside, dismissing the opposition captain early in the innings would've given England a huge mental boost. Calling the Root decision awful would be complimenting it, that's how bad it was.

But that aside, Bumrah seems to be the death bowler that India have desperately needed all these years. Not easy on the eye but incredibly effective. Hope he's managed correctly because he seems to have a lot of potential.

He said in the latest interview that he had a bit of scuffle with the broadcaster where they wanted him to be biased but Bhogle refused saying that to praise Indian players they already have a hindi channel and the commentators needed to be unbiased on the english one as the game is watched worldwide when compared to hindi channel.

Thats interesting to know though I didn't like his sarcasm that much I always felt that he is over-doing it.

India needs to go for a young T20 side. Let Yuvraj focus on the 50 overs game, Jadhav and Pandey are a better fit. Dhoni also looks a bit off for the shortest format, but we don't have anyone dependable in the lower order to take over.
