the carling cup final you still lost (telling you anything?) and you still don't play that way against any team, you didn't against united las season apart from in the last 20 minutes at cashburton when we sat back anyway so you didn't have much choice being a goal behind.

We did in the first game. We try and play attacking football in virtually every tie.

Newsflash, if this wasn't a Cup game, it would have ended a 1-1 draw. Is that what you aim for against Chelsea? The Champions are so scared of getting beaten by a team who finished below them?

It's football. I'll watch anything football related.

'They play some great football, ok they didn't today' - They never do against Chelsea ever since they've become Championship contenders. What happened to all the old 3-3s and 3-2s between Chelsea and Utd? They've gone, because they are both scored testicle-less about getting beat. When was the last time you saw a boring game when the likes of Liverpool, Totenham or Arsenal played? The answer; Never, because there hasn't been one as these teams aren't scared of getting beat like Utd and Chelsea are. It's a shame that with all the talent on display for both teams, they rarely produce a thrilling game when pitted against each team
Against chelsea we don't, well maybe you don't realise just how important these games are? Today i can understand but previous games it's to be completely expected. Liverpool virtually always play boring football at an incredibly slow pace. Arsenal have played boring football as i've mentioned.

Point is, against better teams, Arsenal and Liverpool try and raise their game, while you try and simplify it.

United try and play attacking football in every tie but against chelsea. The game against chelsea at old trafford was no more boring than Arsenals games V chelsea. Maybe we took into consideration that it was a cup game and had enough faith tat we could win on penaltys. Its the first proper game and its against chelsea, the title rivals. We're hardly going to come racing out with all out attack, because we'd lose.Arsenal certainly don't try and play any more attacking against top teams than they do against lower teams and neither do Liverpool.

I'm surprised you've said that. I assume you watched the CC final and saw that in the first 20 minutes, we definitely took the game to Chelsea. Arsenal do raise their game and do play attacking football virtually every game. Liverpool attacked Chelsea and won 2-0. That's what you get when you take chances. Obviously, it doesn't work every time but at least other teams try and win the game.

If its the case that Liverpool attack then its not working looking at their record against chelsea in the premiership. That was 1 game. Games against chelsea aren't as big for you as they are for us too because we're both big rivals to win the title whilst you with all due respect are not exactly looking capable of winning the prem at the minute. Liverpool have such a bad record against the top teams though that apart from 2 games last year where they improved that the only reason their games are exciting is because they generally seem to be chasing the game. United take the attack to Liverpool and Arsenal, obviously we play based on the situation but generally we do. Sir Alex probably is afraid of chelsea, but then when you look at his record v them you can understand why. These games are too important to consistently lose for us too.

Whether or not we are in the Title Race, Chelsea is still a massive game. We are big rivals. Spurs against Arsenal is just as big as Man U against Arsenal. You didn't take the attack to us or you wouldn't have lost 2-1. You should have won that game but you sat back and didn't take the game to us. If you were really better than Chelskov, you would attack them.

you could say the same about them though. Spurs against Arsenal is different, you're expected to beat them, you're just better. United lose a lot more than you do when we lose to chelsea, its a massive mental blow in the title race and 3points we can't afford to lose whe we're so evenly matched

You are the best England has to offer. And, if someone who had never watched English football saw the 'best' of England play like this, what does that say for English football?

In a match like this, don't you want to send a message for the Premiership Season?

A loss may be a big blow but a win is gigantic mentally and in terms of the title race.

Obviously Sir Alex sees doing it this way more important. It's hard to play attacking football when theother side plays so boringly too, even with Arsenal playing this supposedly godly attacking football they rarely get a win and they only scored once in each game last year.

Yet we managed to beat the likes of Inter, Ajax, PSG and Lazio playing attacking football

I must of been watching a different Liverpool to you then last season...we attacked and beat Chelsea 2-0, same with when we beat Arsenal 4-1 and even in that game were Man U got that lucky winner at Anfield. It's not like we set out like Bolton whenever we play a top team.

Liverpool did raise their game and take chances or they wouldn't have beaten us 4-1 even after we had demolished them earlier.

I have to agree with LFox here. Its not always possible to play the attacking brand of football. Against teams like Chelsea who keep the ball passing a lot in midfield, you need to slow down and keep possession as well.

I think the game today showed how close the two sides are and how close the title race could be.
