Matt, Malouda had left the ball! Dear me, if that's a pen then City are going to win the league! He more went into Finnan than the other way around. Take off your blue tinted glasses:p

In this day and age of players being given free kicks for being breathed on, you can' deny that it's a penalty. You see them given every week all over the pitch so just because it's in the penalty area at Anfield at can't be given? It was exactly the same thing which led to Gerrard's winning free-kick up at Villa last week. I don't see any Liverpool fans bemoaning that decision.

It was surely one of the worst penalty decisions that I can remember. But I am more than happy with the point because in truth Liverpool were the better team and should have won. So getting a point here means a lot, and to have played one of the top teams and still remain unbeaten, is also a good thing. (especially since united cant seem to be winning despite playing well)

Although United are not out of it yet, I'd be surprised if Chelsea or Liverpool surrendered their 5 point lead.

Erm...thats because no Liverpool fans have posted. Listen to 606 on 5live, both Chelski and Liverpool fans are saying it was in no way a penalty. That wouldn't be a free kick in other areas of the pitch, that happened several times in the derby today. It's a physical game for gods sake, Finnan did nothing to him, Malouda ran into Finnan and Malouda didn't have a chance to score anyway.

I know it's a physical game. I wouldn't have given the penalty if I was a ref, but given how many of those you see given each week, it was a penalty.

United will win the league. Chelsea shown today and at Reading that big atmospheres away from home scare them. Liverpool will always have a dodgy away record and Utd are just getting their bad form out of the way early on. If United don't finish 2nd at the very least then i'm Dutch.

As probably mentioned earlier in the thread, last time united drew their first 2 games of the season they went on to win the treble. If anyone is writing united off after 3 games they're an idiot. Still 35 games left to play, United have nowhere near thrown their title chances away. Once Ronny and Rooney come back they'll hit form once again. They do need an out and out striker though, Tevez hasnt shown any real goalscoring ability as of yet, him and Rooney are very similar players.

The problem with united is they insist on crossing it and overloading the box. Why cross it when tevez is a short guy? Also its harder to score with 5 people in the box than when there is 2.

I agree with that, poor..

Well...:noway I'm yet to see the penalty, although i'm pretty sure it wasn't a pen as not a single person in the ground apart from Styles thought it was a pen, even the Chelsea fans and players didn't appeal!

Not going to carry on with that just yet, Torres was a class apart. We have players like Kuyt who work their balls off but lack real class and ability to finish. Torres has that, and he looks like the first real striker we've had since Owen. Also it's good to see we've got a team like Chelsea playing most of the game trying to scrap a draw. On a bad note Alonso was shocking.
