Yeah - we need Ferdinand and Vidic back at the centre of defence - I'm sure our defence will improve a lot once they're back in charge. It's infuriating - were it not for those four points unnecessarily dropped v Everton and Portsmouth, we'd be right on Chelsea - separated only by goal difference I believe.

Portsmouth? lol

^wasn't it 3-2 in the Man Red V/S London Red match?:p

So out we go from the Carling Cup but it was sure a crazy match at the Bridge. As entertaining as the match was, there were a couple of defensive mistakes in the match that led to Newcastle scoring. The goals that we conceded could have been prevented if there was more awareness and better positioning in terms of defending. But it’s pointless now and I’m still not really convinced with Bruma but I guess he and young Blues will learn from this experience. Also, it was rather unfortunate to see Kalou(again!) and Benayoun picked up an injury. That really made it difficult for us. We might have won if there were 11 vs 11 on the pitch.

Having said that, it was Kalou’s injury that led to the introduction of Josh McEachran. Not that I’m happy that Kalou is injured or anything but Josh is certainly one bright prospect! He showed the abilities and talent in him. He was composed, passing is great, has some trickery and certainly not afraid to shoot from distance. And he's only 17! Hope to see more of him in the future. Another praise has to go to Anelka, as he played brilliantly too, helping us to retain possession and I have to say, his penalty was pretty casual. :laugh

Overall, it was a good match and credit to the players for fighting against adversity. Newcastle played well and defended pretty well too. I’m rather disappointed that we went out so early but maybe this will save us from hectic fixtures in the upcoming months and help us to focus on the other games.

Let's all have a colossal laugh at Chelski, Man City but most of all, a huge belly guffaw for Liverpool! Knocked out by Northampton at Anfield! :laugh :laugh :laugh :rtfl

Our 100% record in the league finally came to an end and what a pathetic way to lose it. I'm sure all the headlines for the next few days will be about this result. The game was pretty tight and we played decently but had to concede a poor goal. Take nothing from the way Tevez scored his goal but why on earth Cole was back pedaling when Tevez was running towards the goal? Alex did the same mistake the other day against Newcastle and the same thing happened here again.

Another poor aspect is that some of players kept the ball too long without passing when there were options and Man City robbed the ball rather too easily. The home side then had countless of counterattacks in which they scored from one of them! :facepalm Having said that, a draw would probably have been a fair result since neither side created too many clear cut chances and Manchester City weren't really adventurous in the match. Anyway, I would assume both Arsenal and Manchester United to close the gap to 1 point by the end of this week, so we really need to win next week's game against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

I'm feeling a mix of emotions right now. Anger, disbelief, sadness, frustration, helplessness...

Couldn't believe that Arsenal lost at home today! At least that means we still have a 4 points gap over them going into next week's match. IF Manchester United can somehow drop points against Bolton, then I will be :laugh.

Sorry for asking, but are you a Liverpool fan?

A very poor performance by Arsenal today. It is a pity that last man standing (keeper) always receives the larger share of the blame but Wenger to blame for his stingy and stubborn policy of not investing on new goalkeeper. Arsenal looked lethargic and did not play with any sense of urgency until it was too late. I see Arsenal losing to Chelsea next week and that will close the door for Wenger to win a Premier league. Arsenal is not going to win Champions league so realistically Wenger only got Carling cup. I can see another season for Arsenal without trophy.

I wouldn't dismiss Arsenal so fast in next week's match. They are still difficult side to play against.

I do not have much of a hope with current form of Arsenal players. Also Angeloti would get lot to add to his team even psychologically while Wenger is just doing nothing. There so many technical errors in Wenger’s strategy.

I have nothing much to say about that. I just hope we can it get right against Arsenal next week and win! Today's defeat really drives me !

Moving on to another story, what on earth is Sam Allardyce doing? He keeps on boasting about himself. It's kinda ridiculous but funny to read all those news about him boasting though. :laugh

Well, Arsenal sure has hell messed that up, and WBA could even have had a fourth! Just goes to show how quickly a four point lead can disappear - we must not drop points tomorrow, this is too much of a good opportunity to make up some ground.

No, I was amazed - especially the way they lost!

God knows what's going on in Sam Allardyce's mind - manager of Real? Yeah, right mate!

You're right about Utd - dropping those points vs Fulham and Everton was unlike us. We need Vidic and Ferdinand back in harness as soon as possible, then all these defensive oddities will disappear.

Next week's game against Arsenal will be interesting, they're going to be looking for blood after that performance. At least you guys didn't play too badly.

Hard luck. Maybe your fans will cut out the 'USA, USA' chants now? :p

Is it just me or whenever one of the top 3 teams drop points, one or both of the other two will drop points too? It happened a few times last season and history repeated itself with Manchester United drawing again!

Well, things didn't quite turn out like I thought it would be. ;)
