No real surprises in that given he was a United player :facepalm

It's Mark Clattenburg. It's Alex Ferguson. And it's the FA. That's why. :facepalm

Anyway, for all the riches and resources that Mancini has at his disposal, he is surely complaining too much about injuries to his players. He should have gone out to buy another creative player when the transfer window was opened rather than buying more strikers.

And...

Say what?! :facepalm

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez claimed if Clattenburg had seen the incident properly the offence would have warranted a straight red card, a view endorsed later that evening on Match of the Day by Alan Hansen, who suggested Rooney was 'in big trouble'.

It meant that Clattenburg would first of all have had to admitted he did not see the incident and then explain exactly what he gave the free-kick for given the striker committed no other offence.

Wtf .. Clattenburg ! :facepalm

It's the FA's fault - this ridiculous rule that states that if the referee saw the incident and penalised the player (in this case, a freekick), then no punishment can be applied afterwards. It's a daft rule, but it's not Man Utd's fault, neither is it Sir Alex' fault.

To be honest, if one of our players ordered the ref to send an opposing player off for a non red card offence, and the ref obliged (see "Steven Gerrard").

Or say if we had a penalty given against us, but then because we complained about it the ref changed his mind, later openly admitting he changed his mind because our players told him too (see Arsenal vs Fulham).

Or even if say, one of our players stood perfectly still, nearly a metre offside, in direct view of the linesman, then got the ball and booted it in, only for the goal to count (Didier Drogba).

Or perhaps if we failed to qualify for a competition, then had the rules changed and someone else who had qualified booted out, so we could play in it anyway (see Liverpool, Arsenal).

Maybe if one of our players was sent off for rugby tacklling a player when through on goal, only for the card to be rescinded and the referee disciplined for daring to send the player off in the first place (John Terry),

If stuff like that started happening in our favour rather than simple errors, you might understand why people became somewhat suspicious.

As it is, I couldn't care less. Last season you could make an actual genuine case for poor officiating costing us the Premier League. I can't recall a single season where you could make any argument that it was the reason we won it.

Indeed. ;)

I read on Sky text - a player elbowed Vidic a few weeks back - no outcry about that though, eh?

cricket off Atkinson. What is that, the fourth time in row we've played Chelsea at the Bridge against 12 men?

Indeed. Once again, we get screwed by Chelski.

1. John Terry blocks the ball with his arm in the area. No penalty.

2. Luiz with a blatant foul on Rooney: should've been second yellow and off. Referee doesn't even award freekick. Yes, yes - Rooney shouldn't have been playing, but we're talking about decisions awarded in Chelski games - so that definitely gets added to the list.

3. The Chelski player was looking for that penalty - the referee should've told him to get up and given him a yellow card. I didn't see any contact - all I saw was a blue shirt swan diving over Smalling's leg.

No complaints about the Vidic red card - pulling the guy's shirt so soon after being booked was not sensible. Now we lose him for Anfield. :facepalm

Still, we're used to it - we had at least four title deciding decisions against them last season - and of course, we've still got to play them again at Old Trafford, where no doubt something else will happen. Well, I suppose they have to have their fun - after all, trying to stop us winning the league is going to be the highlight of their season.

----------

It's definitely going down to the wire now, but Arsenal are also more than capable of dropping points - especially after what happened against Birmingham.
