Hiddink and Villas-Boas linked with post - ESPN Soccernet

Only today in the morning was I betting against a die hard Chelsea fan for that to happen . Lol he was really confident that you guys would somehow tie up a deal for Carlo , but I just reminded him saying 'you just cannot expect those sort of favors from Chelsea or Madrid' . :p

P.S : Welcome to Stadio Olimpico Carlo ! :D

At the moment, I'm having mixed feelings over the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti. He may not have had the best of season with us but I think he should be given a chance to redeem himself given that he won the Double last season. Roman Abramovich should be backing him financially and stop his constant interference and meddling in matters related to football! That way, we can then see how Ancelotti fares next season. That said, Roman will not stop doing that and no chance of redemption for Ancelotti.

On the other hand, his lack of faith and confidence in some of the younger players was something that I did not like. Players like Sturridge are ready to step up into first team action but too often this season especially during the 'bad moment', he has decided to stick with the old guards. Some would probably argue that he is trying to play the senior players back to form but surely, he can see that they were woefully short on confidence.

If Ancelotti had played Sturridge and among the younger ones and win games during that slump, then the confidence may return in the camp. Winning breeds confidence and with confidence comes good performances. Although this may easily backfire but the problem is Ancelotti is not even giving it a proper try to play them. Even when he does, he more than often not plays them out of position which then makes them ineffective and they find themselves back on the bench for the next game. Sturridge can certainly testify that.

As for Ancelotti's replacement, well, this is what I think about the possible candidates.:

1. Jose Mourinho - It's not going to happen, not this summer at least but he is definitely the No.1 choice for majority of the Chelsea fans including me.

2. Guus Hiddink - The best possible replacement after Mourinho. Very experienced and had a great time with us two seasons ago. A popular choice among the fans.

3. Andre Villas Boas - I wouldn't mind him but it would be a risk despite what he has achieved with Porto this season. Still inexperience at the highest level. Would want to see him stay at Porto and see how he fares in the Champions League next season.

4. Marco van Basten - Appointing him would pose a huge risk. Managed Holland and Ajax before but still inexperience and hardly achieved anything so far.

5. Mark Hughes - A big "NO".

6. Harry Redknapp - Again, a big "NO".

7. Avram Grant - An ever bigger "NO"!

8. Rafa Benitez - He needs stay away from Stamford Bridge and even more so given that we have been managed by Mourinho before.

Yeah , Hiddink is the way to go I guess .
But seriously , the way he(Carlo) got the 'sack call' shows how bad a person Abra is !
Carlo was about to board the Chelsea bus after the match when Abra phoned him to say 'Don't ever step into that bus , you're fired .' :facepalm

His previous decisions and interference in footballing matters already showed that. This sacking just further emphasized it.

That was certainly the initial news from the media but according to the club's TV, Ancelotti was sacked in the dressing room at Goodison Park after everyone have left.

Gianfranco Zola please. Chelsea need to create a legacy rather than a stop-gap solution. Yes they might not win the title the immediate next season, but Chelsea need to refresh, just like AC Milan are doing at the moment.

He wants to honour his Turkey contract - which won't end until October at the earliest. Sorry, but Roman is a prat. Ancelotti comes in and wins the Double in his very first year - and then gets treated like this. I can see the Chelsea job becoming as much of a poisoned chalice as the England job is because of Roman. Everyone knows that it was Roman's idea to sign Torres in January - a waste of ?50m so far :p

I hope this comes back to bite him and Chelsea if an Ancelotti lead team dumps them out of the CL - again.

Yes please. He showed how clueless he was with West Ham - perfect replacement for Ancelotti. :D :p

'Abra' is a complete cock - fancy sacking someone like that, especially someone who had done so well to the club. Their loss, Ancelotti - not yours.

Well, that was a nice entertaining game to watch and a fitting tribute to Gary Neville. That No. 7 playing for Utd with the headband looks like a decent player, reckon Fergie should sign him up! :D

To say he is clueless is absolutely rubbish. He did well in his first season but not so well in his second and that is more down to the fact that David Gold and David Sullivan constantly undermining him in the press all season long.

Anyway, be careful of what you wish for.

To be honest, I don't really care who Chelsea get - there isn't a manager out there who can match the genius that is Sir Alex.

He wasn't that good tbh, gave away a free kick which led to a goal.

He made one mistake. The rest of the night, he was pulling the strings in midfield just as he did in the old days. :) And that freekick was freakish - 9/10, that mistake would not have resulted in a goal.

Hmmm...I've also read reports that he rejected a contract extension.

Never a dull moment on Tyneside.
