It's just sour grapes and a holier than thou attitude that I'm really growing tired of. Sure, they had the lion's share of possession but they didn't really do all that much with it.

That's right and football is about getting the thing in the net when all's said and done, not pretty triangles. If you're up against a team that's technically better than you, you'd be an idiot to try and play them at their own game. It's like boxing - if you're a big guy, you're going to use your reach and stay mainly on the outside, aren't you? I've seen lots of fights where the big guy just stays behind his jab all night - boring yes, but effective.

I think all of you need to take a chill pill. The Spanish press is indeed talking rubbish and covering up what was a poor performance from the team with no cutting edge what so ever.

Spain have been pathetic in friendlies since the World Cup. But they have won the games that matter. 2-2 against Costa Rica yesterday having gone down 2-0 initially.

Personally I'd like to think that in a friendly, you put your young, fresh and eager talented players out and have a go at playing football.

I take no joy in sitting through a dull 1-0 friendly win over Spain. If anything, they've just had a nice lesson in how not to play England if we sit back.

Do they really expect attendances at friendlies to be decent if all we can hope to see is a dull defensive team sitting back with the hope of stealing a goal from a setpiece? Oh joy.

To be fair Colin, the other non clowns should just accept that he is a clown, shake his hand, and move on ;)

I love the fact that a massively wealthy white upper class bureaucrat can come out and claim that racism no longer exists. He is after all, a man of the people.

I can only assume this is why Spain weren't punished, and why so many Italian clubs and Eastern European teams have never been punished. How can you punish clubs for something that was successfully erradicated?

@ Themer - You're right, there's definitely some red for the smile and blue to go around the eyes :p

While I am certainly not defending Sepp Blatter here, I must say that he never said that racism no longer exists. What he meant was that not everything said on the field has racist intents behind it.

I'm starting to feel this is turning into an anti-Blatter English thing. The resounding silence from the rest of the footballing world if a bit conspicuous.
I believe the Spanish released a statement though saying that they shouldn't have to shake hands after racially abusing people.

City have finally stopped Newcastle's run.

Poor Ryan Taylor.

He was responsible for 2 of the 3 goals that City scored.

----------

And Van Persie's just pure class!!

How does he play so amazing this season?

I know.

As for RVP, he's only the fifth player in Premier League's history to net more than 30 goals in a calender year. Well played son.

With four games left this year, he could easily shatter some of the previous records in his current form.

He is quite simply the most in form striker in the world right now.

----------

Taking nothing away from RVP though, he is relying a lot on Walcott and especially Gervinho's great passes and unselfishness.

Had Adebayor and Bendtner been his strike partners, IMO his tally would be closer to 20 probably.

Walcott is really coming of age this season. His final ball has improved loads. Gervinho is a good player, his finising is so frustrating though.
