YES!!!
2-0 to the City, no excuses United fans please. You thought it would be a walk in the park so you played a crap team and got punished for it.
None of this crap which Evo mentions either.
We win, you lose.
You lost to a Championship side at home 2-0.

:D

Sir Alex never takes this one seriously, neither do quite a few other teams. It isn't a good situation, as the fans are being robbed of seeing their favourite players, but it is here to stay, what with squad rotation being so necessary these days.

Well done, Coventry and good luck in the rest of the tournament!

As long as we win the league again (and maybe the C/L), I don't really mind!

I was fuming last night. First of all, before this season, season ticket holders like myself, bought just the league games when they bought the season ticket. This year, however, United have made all season ticket holders get the Automatic Cup Scheme. Which means that when the cup games are drawn, you automatically get tickets for them, and you automatically pay for them. Some people, just boycotted it last night, even though they'd paid.

So, me and my Dad paid ?40 for 2 tickets for last night's game. Then, with the Glazers already ripping us off, Fergie plays a second string side. Say, we narrowly miss out on the other competitions, the Carling Cup would have been a valuable trophy to win, a la Chelski last year. He doesn't even put Saha or Rooney on the bench, the former especially would have been good to come on for the last 20 minutes.

Some of our reserve players, aren't and won't be United standard players. Dong, looks clueless and is just there to sell shirts. Phil Bardsley, Lee Martin, Jonny Evans, there'll all just not good enough, get rid of them Fergie! It just made me think about how good Arsenal's reserves and youth team are compared to ours, we need to look at how our's is run, we haven't had a proper local lad get into the team consistently since Brown really. O'Shea looked clueless as captain. Nani had a shocking game, while Anderson had a decent first half, but lost it a bit in the 2nd.

A special word goes out to Gerard Pique, who has a big future ahead of him, he can tackle well, and his distrubtion and running are fantastic. He reminds me of Rio in that sense and also in the sense that he made a few mistakes. He just needs to iron out them and he'll be a top quality player. I just hope he doesn't fall by the wayside like Rossi.

All credit must go to Coventry, they like their fans were brilliant. They fully deserved to win and could have extended their lead to be honest. Their fans took up the whole of the East Stand, and sang through the 90 minutes, it would have been a great night out for them, they really deserved to celebrate.

Still haven't seen Everton's goals from last night yet. McNugget got 2 and Yakubu chipped in with the other. Johnson still in search for his first goal of the season. He's due an absolute corker of a tap in.

I just hope he doesn't fall by the wayside like Rossi.

he hasnt! hes scored 4 in 5 games this season for Villarreal and has looked a class player!

understand your frustration at the season ticket thing, why should you have to buy a ticket for a reserve game like that! if the first team players were playing it wouldnt be so bad, but its still wrong

I just hope he doesn't fall by the wayside like Rossi.

Seriously, have you seen Rossi play for Villarreal this season?? He is definately going to be a star very soon and Sir Alex made a big mistake selling him, considering how United needed a good finisher (with Saha being injured most of the times).

Fully agree about Pique. He was brilliant for Zaragoza last season and impressed me a lot playing for the Spain U-21s as well. United better hold on to him as both Barcelona and Madrid have declared their interest.

Cheers for that Phil, that tells me a lot about the game, thanks:)

Great post! Very interesting - so our youngsters don't have the potential like Arsenal's stream of youth? Damn...maybe because we are turning into Chelsea and are just buying young superstars.

United hasn't had a very successful youth academy system since it had it's golden spell of the Neville's, Beckham, Giggs, Butt etc.

The United youth system is incredibly average, they stumbled upon a number of very good youngsters in a short period and fortunately with the exception of the Neville's and Butt, they all became world class. This raised expectations of the youth system much higher than they should be.

Liverpool's youth system is pretty good, Gerrard, Carra, Owen, Fowler, Mcmanaman all came out of it and they've won the youth cup twice in a row. But we are buying more and more foreigners (Leto, Leiva, Brouwer) and putting them into the academy. Same with arsenal.

Cant wait to see Liverpool tomorrow after that draw last premier league game. Voronin like the game Liverpool played 2 weeks ago (Premier League) got very close but couldn't put it in the back of the net. I hope we start with Torres tomorrow like we did against Reading during the week. We need Voronin to start to, with Torres he should be able to finish those chances.

how long a go was that!

thew best youth systems in the country now are man city and Middlesbrough.

City - Kasper Schmeichel, Nedum Onuoha, Micah Richards, Michael Johnson, Stephen Ireland and Ishmael Miller
watch out for Daniel Sturridge and Shaleum Logan who have both played for the first team and looks class.
and not to forget the england internationals Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips!

I'm loving the fact that we're shooting from outside the box more and more and scoring from those shots.

Torres' movement against Reading was incredible but that commentator wasn't half biased!

When I said falling down the wayside like Rossi, I meant at United, Rossi's a talented youngster and I was more disappointed at the way he'd been treated at United without football. He'll do well elsewhere. Yeah I hate to say it but Ciddy's academy is pretty good, they've produced some quality over the last couple of years, Richards, Onouha, Miller, as well as the likes of Barton and SWP.
