I really cannot imagine Liverpool playing without Suarez even once in the league over the next two months. He's an yellow card away from suspension...

Suarez and Gerrard are the only people that are keeping Liverpool from being deemed a failure.

Agree with Suarez, but Gerrard?

He is a shadow of his former self only Liverpool fans can still see the Gerrard of a few years ago

Actually yes, but Gerrard has been one name that is synonymous with Liverpool since a long time.

Of course, but he still undoubtedly lifts the team and still puts in solid performances a lot more than the other Liverpool players. His performances may not be world class, but they are still better than the performances of most of the other Liverpool players (barring Suarez of course).

--------------Friedel---------------
Johnson--Cahill--Vertonghen--Baines
----------Fellaini--Allen------------
Mata---------Michu---------Sterling
-------------Van Persie-------------

That would be mine. Only doubt is Michu, but he hasn't done much wrong, has he?

Also, Fellaini has played in a more advanced role this season, so I might change that.

That probably says a lot about LFC right now that they are still reliant on a player who isn't really good enough for a team with long term champions league place and potential title challenge ambitions

I hate fans biased loyaltys to a player just because is a long term servant, my club included, JT should have been sold 2-3 years ago when city offered silly money, but many fans are just so blinded, sometimes it's time to move on and in Gerrard and Terry these are 2 good examples

i do not think sterling has done enough to warrant inclusion in team of the year. he's had a few good games and is an exciting prospect so obviously the media is heaping unrealistic praise and expectation upon him.

While i agree with the sentiment about club bias to long time players who may be passed their best & Terry certainly falls into that category. Ivanoic & Cahill should be the starting defensive pairing for chelsea these days for sure.

However i see no evidence of this applying the Gerrard. The man is still playing very well. He has been adapting well to a deeper mid-field role, passing the ball very well & is still making his trademark runs in the box.

Of the current top 4 premiership teams in champions league positions, i don't see any team right now where Stevie G wouldn't be an automatic starter in mid-field.

He is better than Carrick/Cleverley. He would be a better central mid-field partner for Toure @ City than Milner/Barry/Garcia. And presuming that Ramires is chelsea's best mid-fielder, he is better than Lampard or Mikel.

Oh was that a team of the year? Mine was a team of the season so far. Premature, yes, but I thought that's what it was.

I'm a bit lost as to why there'd be four Liverpool players in a team of the season so far... Suarez, possibly, definitely none of the others. Coloccini as well, he's only played half the games this season and got red carded in one too.

Possibly because Hansen and Lawrenson are involved in picking it...

The same reason that Friedel is in their team of the season so far without having actually kept a clean sheet :p
