Rooney cares too much, he shouldn't have been back defending against Russia, at best he could have been in the middle, but he's still young so hopefully he will realise as useful as it is to have a player like him sometimes its best to let the defenders do their job. Still it's always nice to see someone show some passion, one of the few players you'll see come out of a 4-1 defeat with praise :D

I wanted to go the RWC final really badly this week but all the glory hunters turned up nad got tickets even though i went to the semis and a group stage game. Prince Harrys in my seat but I get to see united this week because I'm missing out on England and I'm meant to be going to a family do "up north" anyway.

EDIT--oh i just realised, :D is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Not many strikers have Rooney's workrate. Although he made a mistake at the back (and I still don't see how that Russian went down with that amount of contact unless he was diving), we should be grateful that his work ethic means that he can even be bothered to cover at the back or in midfield!

They've sorted out :p About time!

There's glory hunters, then there's you.
Chelsea, Fiorentina, Stuttgart and Real Madrid, Let's see what they did:
Chelsea - Last 3 seasons: 1st, 1st and 2nd
Fiorentina - One of the top Italian sides
Stuttgart - Bundesliga champions
Real Madrid - Probably the biggest club in the world and Spanish champions

STFU. I was supporting the Viola even they were playing in bloody C2. Real Madrid when they went through three seasons without any trophies and played some of the worst football ever. Stuttgart had a brilliant season last year but it was a very inexperienced and young side, and is probably what is contributing to the horrible start to this season. How is it my fault that the teams I support end up doing well??

You really **** me off that you think you know a lot about football and then start saying you hope people's countrys don't make it into the Euro 2008 finals when you are just a glory hunter and obviously don't know much about football.
Why make comments like that when people are just supporting their national side?

I was just responding to the overconfidence displayed by the fool who originally posted something about the Russians.

And I am sorry, I dont limit myself to Premiership football, but follow Italy, Germany and Spain as well. So I am pretty sure I know a decent bit about football.

And I dont think I am in any way wrong to term England as overrated. Its a fact.

I'm not sure overrated is quite the right term, more like underachievers. They have the players to do well but never rise to their potential.

It was a quality post from Rob. Yeah you supported Madrid through 3 years of no trophies, but come on, it was hardly tough with Zidane, Robinho and the like there. Have you got a connection with Madrid? It seems like with some you've just seen them on TV and said "Oh I'll support them". To be honest, you showed your true knowledge about football when you said Utd vs Liverpool was "purely sporting"! Can you explain how you ended up supporting the teams in your profile?

Rooney's committed, he does it for United and England, he wouldn't be the same player without it, but I agree, he could tone it down a bit.

I wouldn't change Rooney at all. His commitment is a shining example to how football should be played.

I think England's problem is that the players like Gerrard, Joe Cole and Rooney try and be heroes and win the game for us and try to do something special every time they get the ball when we should be keeping posession instead. Look how well Georgia kept the ball against Scotland the other day, they knocked the ball round and really took any tempo and threat of Scotland attacks out of the game. That is something England cannot do, we need more players like Barry who will help us keep posession instead of giving it away.
The problem is, not many English players are like this because of the tempo of the football in the Premiership, international football is a lot different and our players can't adapt their game. We have the world class talent, you can see that from club performances but I don't think we will ever get anywhere on the international stage.

For example, take Germany, Italy or France, how many times do you see them throwing away a lead? They put their foot on the ball and keep it and have the players who can dictate the flow of a match.

:laugh I love beef!

Spot on, underachievers is the perfect word for the England football team.
I'd like to see Mourinho get hold of them...

There seems to have been a rise in the discussion of glory hunters. Then, I am afraid I can only hold my head in shame for supporting Norwich.:noway

So you should.

Who do you reckon will go up this season anyway? Two of the relegated clubs Watford and Charlton are looking quite tasty, as well as that team from down the road from me. Hopefully we can take care of Charlton anyway. I think Wolves can sneak in the play-offs like last season. And if I am honest, Norwich won't do much will they?

Norwich will just about avoid relegation to League One. They have been awful since they dropped out of the Premier League.

Get in Everton!!:D:D That'd be a big favour if you can carry this score through the 2nd half. Good old Sami!

Lee, don't be so downhearted, you've got Delia!:p

Dont you mean, Mark Clattenburg. Thanks. If there was a proper ref in charge of the game it'd have been a draw. The actual contact came outside the box from Hibbert, and there was barely any contact at that, Gerrard doing his normal sprawling dive. Then Lescott got pulled back TWICE in the area, blatently pulled back and we got nothing. Hibbert's wasnt a sending off, and wouldnt have been if Gerrard didnt sweet talk him. Neville's was fair enough though :D. Also, if Hibbert got sent off for what he did, why didnt Kuyt get sent off for his flying double footed missed tackle ? We were robbed of a point. Liverpool, and more importantly Rafa Benitez can feel incredibly lucky.
