Skysports an espn uk are trumpeting a supposed story that Moyes is going to replace SAF if he does announce retirement all day.

I remember discussing this with a friend earlier in the year when he just turned 71 and when we got to considering that mandela was in charge of south africa until he was 81, john mccain was running for president at 72, so I'm not really of the opinion that it needs to be sorted out in the near future. easily 4-5 more seasons in him yet.

that said, given the love in between him an mourinho, and mourinho's imminent depature from real madrid, could this be an announcement of an agreed hand over to convince jose to take a year out and take over next season? maybe a bit of a stretch but possible.

----------

The Special One to Man Utd seems likely if that's the case but Real appear to be demanding an awful lot of money to get rid of a manager they don't want at the club anymore.

real madrid always do this. I remember them touting cassano and fat ronaldo all over europe and then going "20m!!!" as soon as they got a nibble.

Jose will not suceed Sir Alex, no way will he want to be the first one to try, that job is an impossible task even for the special one.

Maybe in a few years once someone else has come in and failed, Jose has unfinished business with Chelsea first

Honestly, Pellegrini is a better option for Chelsea, if RA wants to instill an attacking style of football.

Hughton is 150/1!

I was thinking Jurgen Klopp to Chelsea but I guess he's a possible. Crazy that there are no German managers in the Premiership currently.

Incidentally Kevin Keegan is at 250/1. I would love it, love it if he took over...

....what a nightmare that would be!

Incidentally, if any event deserved its own thread, surely it's this one!

Sir Alex retires! - PlanetCricket Forums

I think there's a good chance this might make Jose rethink his Chelsea move.

If Moyes does go to Utd, who would replace him at Everton? Resident Everton fans (and everyone else) - what do you think?

if wigan go down can't see past martinez.

if they stay up I can't see us not going for as cheap an option as possible, so most likely someone currently without a club (i'd say O'neil but it seems likely he will take a decent break) and that is a pretty thin talent pool.

I also wouldn't rule out another punt from lower divisions (someone like a karl robinson maybe) or even the scottish leagues, I actually think moyes will have a big say in who replaces him, like how Walter Smith pointed us towards moyes.

Martinez has to be the obvious choice, although I doubt whether he'll move to Everton.
