Everton can confirm that David Moyes will leave the Club at the end of the season.

The Manager met Chairman Bill Kenwright early yesterday evening (Wednesday 8th May) and confirmed his desire to join Manchester United.

The Chairman, on behalf of the Club, would like to place on record his thanks to David for the massive contribution he has made to Everton since his arrival in March 2002. He has been an outstanding Manager.

During his tenure at Goodison Park, David has taken charge of the team on over 500 occasions including four European campaigns.

His final two games as Everton Manager will be the remaining Premier League matches against West Ham United and Chelsea.

Everton officials will start the search for a replacement manager immediately.

He is coming to OT <3 <3 <3 :cheers

Malky Mckay? stick with another weegie.

a season in the PL with cardiff would probably do him good but I'd reckon he'll be picked up next summer anyway, so why not just do it now?

Finally !!!

? Manchester United Board unanimously approves the recommendation of Sir Alex Ferguson
? Moyes to take the helm on 1 July
? Committed to long-term in 6 year deal

David Moyes will take over as the Manager of Manchester United from the 2013/14 season.

David, 50, has been the Everton manager since 2002, joining after a successful spell as manager of Preston North End.

Announcing his successor, Sir Alex Ferguson said:

"When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes. David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic. I've admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this Club.?

This is a very good suggestion TBH.

@Barmy:- Everton could use Benitez as an interim manager for a season and get Mackay the next season then I guess.;)

I'd love us to hire benitez purely from a trolling point of view. Liverpool fans would implode. There would be a march and someone would probably fire-bomb La Tasca.

'Moyes Out'! Already.

Grow up, you bunch of babies. People like you make me ashamed to be a Utd fan; Moyes has done a great job at Everton and deserves to be given a fair chance.

That would be highly amusing. :D

Mourinho was never going to get the for the same reason Barca wouldn't have him. Charlton was on record saying he would be a disaster for Man U.

Keep reading about Moyes offering a long term option. Which is great. Except what happens if in two years time they're trophyless? Or they go 4 games at the start of the season without winning.

I think he's a fine appointment, but there's so much talk about him being cut from the same cloth, or being the natural successor due to their similarities. Yet, in real life, we all know that instantly dating someone who's just like your ex never ends well...

Well, we all know that Sir Alex's boots will be impossible to fill, regardless of who the manager was. A decent start is vital.
