as if.

so man city who spend billions on their team are going to be happy languishing for a season or two while they "build" a team. if they concede too many goals, they'll buy a ?30m defender, if their passings a bit rubbish they'll buy a ?40m midfielder and if they're not scoring enough they'll buy a ?50m striker.

their resolve to develop young players will last until they lose two games in a row.

This.

We've seen this before with Chelsea and we'll see it again.

I have my doubts as well, but they're saying the right things and have said the right things, so I, the fan am willing to listen.

We're many things, but a Chelsea is not one of them, not that there's anything wrong with that...

How many chances did City give to Guidetti this season? Or was he injured?

Not too sure whether it goes here or not, but Beckham called quits today. Retiring from professional football after PSG's last two league games.

Everyone's packing it in! Sir Alex seems to have caused a domino effect: Sir Alex, then Scholes packs it in, Beckham and even Alan Hansen on MoTD. I reckon it would be a laugh to have Sir Alex on MoTD as a guest pundit. :D

And that's why the England national team will continue to suffer. Anyone who thinks that a young English player, even if he's the next Duncan Edwards, would get into a team ahead of someone like Aguero, Silva, Robin Van Persie, De Gea, Mata, Hazard etc is kidding themselves. We need a foreigner cap and we need it now.

We also need to put an end to this idea of bringing young foreign kids over here and building them up! There should be a rule whereby any new foreign signing is over a certain age - say somewhere around 24 or 25 - someone who is already approaching their peak. Bringing in someone like RvP can have nothing but positive effects on youngsters coming through, but what possible benefits can there be from young foreign kids coming in?

The whole setup needs a complete overhaul if England are ever to win anything again. 38% of our league is formed of English players, people. 38%! It's ridiculous. :facepalm Actually, 38% is probably quite badly out of date; it's probably considerably less now.

So that's basically everyone out...

It's 60k at the concerts, 47k for domestic football and 45k for European football.

47,000. That is much lower than I thought it was; the place looks like such a gigantic stadium!

That doesn't have the appearance of a 47,000 seater.

He almost had his right leg amputated... guess you didn't hear?

Ikr, it's all a mystery.

Well, that's a shock, never knew about that. A shame really.

see, I've thought this before, though 24 is too high, maybe 21, or at least 18 like they have in brazil. the problem with that though is you have to allow young kids to move clubs, what if someone really talented is spotted at a 2nd division swiss club, he could potentially ruin his career without getting the best of coaching. so maybe you only apply the rule to foreign transfers and allow internal moves. then you just make the power of the big clubs in these leagues unbalanced. if an a talented 16 year old appears at st johnstone, it just means celtic or rangers are definitely going to get him since they have no competition.

it really is a difficult situation to manage, but I agree with you and it needs sorting out. even man u, who have an excellent record developing players, have been guilty of just churning through and discarding foreign young players lately.

Football. Bloody hell.

Norwich have beaten Man City 3-2 at the Etihad, so we are only the 2nd team in 40 something games there to beat City, the other being Man United.

It also means that after worrying about relegation a week ago we've finished 11th.

Seems like a wonderful week for you guys, the FA Youth Cup final, a 4-0 victory, Howson's goal and now this. Enjoy 'em.
