Another one of those decent and crappy performance against Blackpool. I guess what matters most is the 3 points at this stage of the season but the performance is still up and down.

Whats your point?

Both earning money for being cack at their job perhaps.

What is it that carrick does? come on someone please tell me?

He just lets games pass him by. you wouldnt know he was playing most games if not all, he is very negative and slows the game down considerably when in possesion.

Most of his passes go back to the defence, when does he split a defence open with a clinical through ball?

Also he cant tackle either.

Lets games go past him? He completed the most passes out of all the Utd players. His job is to keep the ball moving at the tempo required. It doesn't matter if he doesn't play the defence splitting passes, his job is to keep it simple and neat. Denilson does the same job for Arsenal, Lucas for Liverpool, Mikel (although more of genuine defensive midfielder) for Chelsea.

He doesn't need to tackle. He intercepts play. He has the most interceptions for any midfielder in the premiership this season at 4.38 per game (Fletcher in contrast, who apparently should've been picked, has 1.54 pergame). Why would he go in for full throttle tackles when it's not his strength? In fact, intercepting play is much better. There's no risk of a foul, a card or an injury. It's his reading of the game that makes him so effective. Knowing where to be and when to be there. In 4 of his 5 starts in the champions league this season, he covered the most distance in the game. You wouldn't expect that from someone like him really, but he covers so much distance because he's always on the move to a good position.

Valencia's return is in good time - we need some new impetus put into the team and someone who's been on the shelf for months is just the ticket.

Look me or you could quite easily sit in the middle of midfield passing the ball no more than 10 yards everytime. That sounds like a quality job to have.

And the examples of players you are comparing him to just sum it all up, all 3 of those mentioned are very poor players and im sure most fans of their respective clubs would not be sad to see them leave.

Chelsea will be happy to see Mikel leave? Surely not.

Are you winding me up?

I dont know a single chelsea fan who rates him at all.

Mikel is no where near good enough for chelsea or even a top 6 club, he hasn't come on anywhere close to what was expected, i fully expect him to leave in the summer, just cant see him getting any better.

That's a real shame - he was great in the 2006 World Cup.

In better news for Utd - 2-0!! Come on lads, let's give them a good stuffing - they're there for the taking today. :D

Crazy how much info they have! It'd be a shame to see Ancelotti leave, I quite like him.

Chelsea would be idiots to let him go - think back to what he achieved in his first season!

Is it just me or it's just really incredibly easy to play against Arsenal in big games like this? Sit back and hit on the counterattack and you'll succeed!

This is not the first time Arsenal have been beaten this way by either United or us. Anyway, Van der Sar was the MOTM IMO. He was the main reason why Arsenal weren't able to get a goal in this game.

Him and the fact Arsenal tried to play the extra pass instead of having a shot at goal.

Peculiar team selection but tactically it was spot on by Fergie. A lot of positives to take from that performance.

I don't really understand the idea behind Wenger being a master tactician. His stubbornness, although admirable, costs him. Sit back, defend narrow, and counter and the majority of the time you'll win (unless of course you're barca and then you teach arsenal what they should be aiming for). I don't think Arsenal's lack of success has anything to do with the players or the mentality - I think it's because Arsenal's tactics are fundementally flawed.

The attack where Djourou got injured was eerily similar to the attack in which Rooney scored vs Arsenal last season. Just sums it up really - they don't learn from their mistakes, or don't want to learn because of Wenger's philosophy of playing. I like Wenger, I think he's a brilliant manager who revolutionised the premiership, but you just think if he sacrificed some of his philosophy for more defensive stability they'd probably win so many more trophies.

If by the end of next season Arsenal dont win anything major, i think the Wenger era could be over.
