Who will win the Premiership?

Sounds like he might be a victim of the 'never the same after a bad injury' syndrome that has affected so many sportsmen.

He was so overrated from the start because Man Utd and England's midfields are absolute trash. This is complete rubbish, injury will never cause a huge loss in technical ability and especially at that age even physical attributes are unlikely to be affected to a huge extent.

Face it, he was never THAT good.

On the topic of United, 12 points off the pace... That is really bad. I was thinking they could be in with another shot at the title race, but they are a mess right now and I just know they won't capitalise on the points we will drop at Man City for example. 5 points off 4th and 5th, I think that is more their level this season. Not bad for a transition season with the squad looking so poor.

Will be very interesting to see how they cope against Newcastle without Rooney... Rooney has been amazing this season, incredibly consistent in all areas. If van Persie returns it could be OK, but looking at how Newcastle have been doing some giant killing, I can see them doing it again with Man Utd lacking Rooney.

Ha football is a funny game, a lot of people have written off Bendtner, but if he can build on this performance and be a useful back-up to Giroud, along with the return of The Ox & Pod - Arsenal shud take the title.

I definitely disagree about Bendtner, the guy has put in some absolutely AWFUL performances this season and anyone could've scored his goal. Laurent Koscielny could've scored that, I would rather even he plays striker than Bendtner as atleast he is a bit acrobatic and has pace. Another problem is Bendtner just can't make an impact off the bench, and that is what you want from a back-up striker like him.

If anyone was to give Giroud a rest, it should've been Walcott up front, but he was on the bench for some reason again. Akpom also deserves to play ahead of him.

If Wenger is happy to get rid of Bendtner on January 1st and bring in someone like Morata or Pato, we will be sorted. I don't really see him ever using Podolski or Walcott up front so we will need a new striker to replace Bendtner unless he is willing to give them a run, particularly Podolski.

Still a long way to go but with each passing matchday the confidence rises. We are up against Everton, Man City and Chelsea over the next PL games, with Napoli in between the Man City and Chelsea games. If we can win those then we'll be runaway favourites for sure, but I think we'll lose at Man City and maybe draw one of the other two. February will be an important month with an absolute killer fixture list, so it's important we avoid any more injuries.

Podolski will be back in a week, which is great. I'm not so sure about Ox though, which is a real shame. He was brilliant against Villa and it looked like he was going to kick on this season. He has probably regressed form-wise since then. His return date keeps pushing back too, it was September or October, now it's New Year. Expect him around February at best tbh... The injury doesn't seem like one that will hinder his overall ability though. He will struggle more for playing time now due to the emergence of young Serge Gnabry who is a frightening talent too.

As much as I would like arsenal to win this time, I keep feeling there's a slipup waiting to happen which would allow Manchester city to capitalise. If Chelsea ends up 2nd or higher, it'd be a miracle, or great business in January.

Well done Everton for shutting the utd fans for good.

Chelsea are just a huge mess, Mourinho's homecoming heralded them as certain title-winners but they've been far from it. I am surprised to see them winning week after week by the skin of their teeth.

Man City are very strong... If ever a team could win the title due to home form alone, it would be them. If they can improve their away form as well as they seem to have done, they'll be in it till the end. Our game with them at the Etihad will be huge.

Dont disagree with you - was just highlighting the fact that most Gunners fan have written him off, yet he gets a start and scores.

Your boss manager not the 1st time this season has re-iterated his belief that he could be a solid back-up striker though - Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger - I always believed in Nicklas Bendtner - ESPN FC

Typical Wenger, he supports all players unconditionally. He only recently started to voice concerns that maybe Diaby has too many injury problems!

I only saw the first 20 minutes of the game, will watch the rest now, but from what I saw I have to say he was pretty poor like he has been in the past, though it was a decent run for the goal. This is probably his second decent appearance after his decent run out during his first appearance this season in the Capitol One Cup. Other than that he has been worse than having 10 men.

He has to say that so that he is justified in not buying anyone in January if he doesn't feel like it. Either way, Bendtner wants out and will be gone by the summer, it's just Wenger would prefer buying someone then rather than in Janaury.

wouldn't bring in pato if I were you, arsenal haven't the best record with injuries and he was appalling for being injured at milan.

man u oot of it now. league's taking proper shape and they slipped up when they needed momentum. arsenal have been way too consistent to get away with losing to everton and the likes.

He is pretty much over his injuries now, he is not growing any more at all really at his age and seems to have adapted well to this, he looks to be your typical athlete who gets injured a lot in their teens and early twenties but remains relatively injury-free in their later career.

The main problem is his questionable attitude, however you cannot really lose if we get him on loan with an option to buy. We will know whether or not he is still up for a career in Europe from a loan spell. He is easily a world class talent, he can do what Suarez and Aguero are doing now if he can live up to his previous potential, so it's a risk worth taking IMO.

I guess they are out of it now if you consider how their squad is shaping up and the fact that Moyes is not Ferguson. Another thing to note is that if Rooney or van Persie doesn't score, Man Utd generally don't score against decent opposition, especially the case with Rooney. With both out for the Newcastle game, I really can't see them overcoming a free-scoring Newcastle (except for the Swansea game) tbh and that will be the final nail in the coffin for their title challenge. Remy is looking quite a player at Newcastle and he will cause problems no doubt.

For them it looks like Europa League football would be a good achievement in a transition period with a poor squad.

Rooney and RvP probably out against Newcastle?

:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm

I think the sensible thing would be for us to put this down to a transitional season, clear out a lot of deadwood in the summer and get some decent players in the squad! Trouble is right now, if I were a top player, Man Utd would not be my destination of choice.

Moyes, you have changed too much! Why rip out the heart of the backroom team for God's sake!

I agree with The Don - any sort of European football this season would represent a magnificent effort, but it sure as hell won't do for next season. I don't care how long Moyes' contract is - there is no way Utd will accept two seasons like this one.

It's unfair to put all the blame on Moyes. He has inherited an absolutely dire squad, Ferguson clearly had no eyes on the future. Probably why he left as it would've ruined his legacy had he stayed any longer.

The problem now is that the transition period will last a lot longer than just this season. This is Liverpool territory, but worse. The problem is that pretty much the whole side is deadwood, and they're likely on huge wages as well. Reaching just the Europa League or not even that would make it near impossible to attract any decent talent, the likes of Cabaye will have to be settled for, that is if Newcastle also miss out on Europe.

The transitional Liverpool side at least had some decent young players and somewhat of a decent spine. In this Man Utd first XI, I don't see anyone who can be retained long-term, and you can bet that Rooney, pretty much the only one, will be gone in the summer if they miss out on Europe, van Persie probably too.

I guess if all else fails at least Ryan Giggs can play another 20 years.

Man It's have decent squad depth in the attacking positions when compared to other sides. They still have chicarito and welbeck, and probably someone else whom I can't remember.
Moyes was typically bad in the summer transfer window, not getting payers in. We've seen him do that for years in Everton. He probably put too much trust in the players he had.. Which to an extent, I agree. Teams don't win the league with crap players. They needed one good signing to boost the morale much like ozil for arsenal. All they got was the big headed Belgian.

Welbeck is crap though and Chicharito is very limited and is merely a supersub.

They should give zaha a go if he's ready for the premier league.

I'm not sure that would work after he slept with Moyes's daughter:p...

Either way I don't think he's ready, too inconsistent. Wouldn't hurt to try though. He is better than Valencia and Young.
