If I was England manager we'd win the world cup. And i'm not even joking; I know how to get the best out of these players more than Fabio does. It's quite simple; play EITHER of Gerrard or Lampard not BOTH of them. Or if you are gonna play both of them then play them both in front of Barry in a 4-5-1 system. The problem with this is that Rooney struggles in 451 because he works to hard so stick someone like my mate Shaggsey up there instead.

they always do when a new manager comes in...as he is given a few "starter" pieces to go and tackle (e.g. T&T, USA)...but when the main course comes around (FRANCE) it's still the same old story:noway

when is their first test

Even the strongest England team wont win the World Cup. Not on merit atleast. Barry has to still prove his worth outside the Premiership, although the 4-5-1 would actually fit the current England side well.

It's not true. If Football worked on the team on paper, we've got a better team than most. Not many sides could consider resting Lampard and still have an awesome midfield. I personally think we've got the best midfield in the world, with Gerrard, Joe Cole, Barry and Lampard, then with Bentley, Young, Beckham, Jenas and others as back-up. The defence is also incredibly solid with Cole, Brown/Richards, Ferdinand and Terry. We also have 2 world class strikers in Owen and Rooney. If Capello gets the tactics right then there's every chance that we can do well in the next world cup. We've been hampered in recent times by rubbish managers playing crap players (Downing for example) and using players in the wrong positions and being crap tactically. Now we've got a good manager we'll fulfill our potential.

The problem with that is almost all the England players are over-rated. Rooney had a few good games in Euro 2004 and people were actually calling him the next Maradona. Lampard and Gerrard have been awesome for their clubs but have never done enough for country. And almost all the goalkeepers have been useless and nowhere near international standards. I think when these players play for their clubs, the foreigners in those clubs make them look better than they actually are, and hence when they wear the England shirt, they arent anywhere near as effective.

Brown, Richards, etc. have got to prove it in the international arena. To me they are still noobs.

Brown plays rubbish for England like everyone else. Richards I have watched a few times live and I always seem to notice him out of position a couple of times but he manages to make up for it because of his awesome physical abilitys.

You talk about foreign players making the English look good well it's as much the case the other way round. Rooney had 13 assists in the league, I'm guessing about 7 of them would be for Ronaldo and 3 or 4 for Tevez obviously making them look better. Rooney can be up there with anyone if he stays fit and his finishing imrpoves. In reality Rooney probably should have had about 10 more goals this season just from apalling finishing. Quite similar to Messi in that they both get injured and need to work on their finishing although right now Messi's obviously far ahead.

Lampard is over-rated fair enough. The defence aren't. Gerrard isn't, Owen isn't, Joe Cole maybe, Beckham is abit of a weird one. So these players aren't over-rated at club level at all, in fact before United-Roma all the Italians were saying that they thought Rooney was the best player at united not Ronaldo. At international level yes they're over rated.

I hope the Germans win. One reason is because I am sure by the end of it the Turks will have a few more players injured or suspended and wont have a team to field in the final should they still make another comeback.

I knew the crowd had been chanting 'Seven nation army' but this was the first time i'd heard it played out through the speakers

Can you hear that? That's the sound of Germany choking on their own frankfurters.

Bloody hell no. This cant be happening!

But then Kazim Richards has done well and deserved that goal really.

Are the Turks going to do it again???? Please no.

Can you hear that? That's the sound of Scheweinteiiiigggeeeeerrr!!!! Great finish
